Please Read!! The following information is instructions and important safety tips for your new yard waste container. Place the cart in a location that will interfere with traffic. Play in or around the cart. Drag the cart. Instructions: IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP: Place container with arrows facing the street for collection. The cart must be at collection point by 6:00 A.M. and removed by 6:00 P.M. on your designated collection day. This cart is designed to hold residential yard waste as stated by the city and has a maximum capacity of 220 lbs. The cart is built to roll freely, to move the cart, close the lid, grasp the handle, place foot in foothold, tilt the cart toward you and roll. DO: Store the cart in a safe place. Keep the lid closed when not in use. Rinse out the cart periodically with water. DO NOT: Overload the cart with: soil, dirt, sand, rocks, sod or other heavy material. Put in hot ashes, hazardous or flammable materials, paints, solvents, liquids, acids, or chemicals. Place demolition or construction debris in the cart. Tilt and push or pull the cart with the lid opened. REMEMBER! The lid must be closed before moving the yard waste cart. This will help to avoid injuries. This service can only be successful with your help. Please observe the following guidelines that will help keep costs down, increase landfill life, and maintain cleaner yards. The Yard waste / recycle containers will be collected on the same day as your regular garbage day, but by a different vehicle. 1. Please follow the schedule on the back of this instructions sheet. 2. Please do not mix yard wastes with recycling. Please take note of which days are for recycling and which days are for yard waste. 3. Please do not put garbage in this container it is only for yard waste or recyclable items. We cannot mix this or the load is considered contaminated. 4. Keep 4 feet of space between the yard waste/ recycle container and your regular garbage container. 5. Please DO NOT BAG MATERIALS to be discarded in this receptacle. This is for bulk dumping and vented to allow shrinkage of yard waste with the lid closed to keep out moisture. 6. Please do not wedge, jam or overload the receptacle so that the lid will not close all the way. 7. Keep the cart clean by hosing it out periodically, turning it upside down to dry before the next use. Yard waste includes: Leaves, grass clippings, flowers, garden leaves, stalks, dead plants, spent mulch etc. Strips bark and small (1/2” diameter) limbs and twigs are also acceptable. Recyclables include: Newspapers, magazines, office paper, cardboard boxes (broken down flat), paperboard boxes, tin/aluminum cans and plastic containers with the number 1-7 on them. Recyclables do not include: Garbage, grease, paints, lubricants, liquids, yard waste, appliances, construction and demolition materials, carpeting, dead animals, sharp objects (such as hypodermic syringes) Styrofoam either blocks or packing peanuts, glass of any color or variety, or plastic bags. HAVE YOUR RECYCLABLES IN YOUR BLUE CART AT CURBSIDE ON YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED GARBAGE COLLECTION DAY BY 6:00AM.
