Bread & Butter Farm NEW Milk Customer Sign Up Form Bread & Butter Farm Contact Information: 802-922-2808 – phone, breadandbutterfarm@gmail.com Thank you for your interest in our milk! Our cows are all Jerseys, which means they make rich, creamy milk. We raise them on completely on grass, which means they are eating their natural diet and producing the highest quality milk possible! Our girls are treated with the utmost respect and love and we love their milk! (And all the additional products that come from their milk!). Thank you for supporting our farm. We are a fledgling farm and these critical first years are so important to our long term success. Currently available in our farm store is milk, bread, grass-fed beef and pastured pork. We built our first hoophouse so we will have limited greens all winter. By 2011, we will have a wider selection of veggies available. We will continue to grow and develop our community farm and hope you enjoy being a part of our farm! PRICES FOR REGULAR MILK: 1 gal per week = $10 gal per week 1 ½ gal per week = $15 per week 2 gal or more per week = $9 per gal per week How Our Share Works: Every month you will be sent an invoice one week before the next month. We will send this by email OR leave as a paper copy on your milk can and we will bill you for the weeks you will get milk in that upcoming month. Payment is due the first week of the month when you come pick up your milk. If you know you are going away in that coming month you will have that week prior to the billing due date to let us know by email how many weeks you will be away and we can decrease your bill accordingly. We will not be able to reimburse for weeks that you don’t pick up your milk. You have 3 days to pick up your milk until we feed it to the pigs, unless you call us to tell us you are coming! You may have friends or neighbors pick up your milk if you cannot make it. You milk will be in a can with your name label on it. Please look for your name on your can. We distribute all of our milk in stainless steel cans. We believe it is the most sanitary and safest way to transport milk (no broken milk bottles and a wide mouth for easier cleaning). There is a deposit for each can which is 100% refundable when you cease being members and return your cans. The deposits vary from $30-60 depending on the size of the cans you need to fill your order. We realize this is a high deposit, so talk to us if it is too much for you to manage. We expect that you return your cans to us each week when you pick up the milk. Please wash the cans following our instructions and leave them on the green rack next to the fridge. We will give them a quick rinse and sterilization before the next order. MILK CAN WASHING PROCEDURES: 1. Rinse your can FIRST with COLD water (hot water + milk = “milk stone” – tough to remove!) 2. Remove the label and wash both the label and where the label sat on the can. Then scrub the can with a bristled brush and lots of hot soapy water. Scrub the edges and rims, particularly paying attention to the underside of the lid where milk can dry into the lip. 3. Allow can to AIR DRY before closing the lid. Closed wet cans get stinky fast. 4. We check all cans and rewash if necessary. The more rewashing we have to do the more time we are stuck in the milk room, and the less viable the business becomes, so please help us out by washing and drying your can thoroughly. We also give the cans a rinse in a light bleach solution, and then a rinse with boiling water just before refilling. PAYMENT: We can accept cash or check. There is a separate cash box for our milk customers. Please leave your payment in one of the small envelopes and write your name on the envelope so we know you paid. You may pick up your milk any time during our open hours – Daily 9am – 6pm. VISITING THE COWS We love to have our customers get to know the cows! Feel free to visit with the cows. Just talk to one of us and we can point you in the right direction if you have never been in the barn before. We give all of our new customers a tour which includes visiting the cows – in the pasture or in the barn. We will be able to show you around then. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We hope you love the milk! Other things to note…. Many of our customers skim the cream off their milk and make butter or ice cream. Also, our milk is also great to make yogurt and fresh cheese. Ask us if you would like a recipe for these products. We will also be doing workshops occasionally to teach members how to make these delicious products! We will send occasional emails and newsletters to keep you informed about the happenings at the farm. Please always feel free to ask us any questions you may have! You can email us or call us. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… (This portion will be removed for our files) MILK SHARE SIGN UP: Name(s): _______________________________________ Address: ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ Phone: _____________________________________ Email: ______________________________________ PICK UP DAY AND PRICES: Pick Up Day for Milk (determined by Bread & Butter Farm and you!): _____________________________ How much milk you would like weekly: (circle) 1 gal 1 ½ gal 2 gal 2 ½ gal 3 gal 4 gal other: ____________ Your Signature that you have read and understand the terms: ______________________________________
