Steps for Completing the Psychology Major
PRE-MAJOR
__ Impaction Criteria
-To declare Psychology you must have cleared
math and writing comp, have completed 45
transferable units with GPA of 2.4 or better,
and have completed all 20 units of Prep for the
Major with a C or better.

PREP FOR THE MAJOR
__ All 20 units of Prep for the Major completed with a
grade of C or better

__ Student will automatically be changed to major
status upon completion of the impaction criteria

Things to Remember:
 Must have a 2.0 GPA overall, in SDSU units, and in the major* to graduate.
*At SDSU, grades in lower-division psychology classes are not calculated
into your GPA for the major, but are calculated into your overall GPA and
(if taken at SDSU) your SDSU GPA
 Need a minimum of 120 units to graduate:
o Maximum of 50 (lower- and upper-division units) in psychology
o Minimum of 70 non-psychology units
