Activity no.3 “Geographical Structure of Genetic Diversity of Species: towards the delineation of
adaptive environments and breeding zones at European level”
Second announcement
Dear colleagues,
Forest Research and Management Institute (ICAS), Partner 20, is pleased to invite you to
attend the
TREEBREEDEX SEMINAR ON “GENETIC VARIABILITY AND ADAPTIVE POTENTIAL OF
TEMPERATE AND BOREAL FOREST TREE SPECIES”
23-25 FEBRUARY 2010
BUCHAREST (ROMÂNIA)
Venue: The seminar will be held at the ICAS Conference Hall, Şos. Pipera,
Romania. One day field trip: Sinaia - Braşov region
Bucharest,
Seminar objectives:
 Establishing the state-of-the-art synthesis on genetic variability and adaptive potential of
temperate and boreal forest tree species on a large scale
 Going trough the main aspects concerning research of genetic variability and adaptive
potential
 Evaluation of the implications for forest trees breeding, particularly in relation to
climatic change
Scientific committee:
Luc Paques, Partner 1 – INRA;
Josef Frydl, Partner 5 – Vulhm;
Heino Wolf Partner 8 – SBS;
Øystein Johnsen, partner 17 – NFLI;
Gheorghe Pârnuţă, partner 20 – ICAS;
Josefa Fernandez Lopez, Partner 24 – CIFAL
Call for communications: Contributions on any aspect related to genetic variability and
adaptive potential (e.g. phenotypic or/and genetic variability, genetic diversity revealed by isozyme
and/or DNA markers, genotype x environment interaction, species adaptation to climate change) of the
forest tree species from boreal and temperate forest zones are welcome.
