Only one error is attributable to one word and five keystrokes represent an average word. Keystrokes include punctuation and spacing. An English language dictionary may be used during transcription. 3 Spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation in the documents must be consistent with the nature and purpose of the business or organisational information required. Candidates must be given the opportunity to proofread their work prior to submission. 4 The following legislation and subsequent amendments provide reference, where needed, for this unit standard: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Explain the concepts of audio transcription. Evidence requirements 1.1 The concepts of audio transcription are explained in terms of incorporating hearing, retention, and transcription skills to produce information from a spoken source. Range may include but are not limited to – hand-held portable units, desktop units, centralised recording and transcribing units, meeting and conference recorders, digital software; evidence of two options is required. Evidence requirements 2.1 Audio transcription options are described in terms of their uses, features, safety and hygiene procedures. Outcome 3 Apply audio transcription techniques to produce text. Range text may include but is not limited to – literature, correspondence, notices, advertisements. Evidence requirements 3.1 Transcriptions, for two aural passages of 300 words (1500 keystrokes), are consistent with the information provided and achieve at least 97% accuracy. 3.2 Interpretation of instructions, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and format of transcriptions are consistent with the information provided and output required.
