The Complete Translation Solution
ESTeam Translator is a complete translation solution, providing full control over the
whole translation process, including administration. It operates both interactive and fully
automatic translation scenarios, enables the connection of an unlimited number of
translators in a globally networked environment and leverages administrative tasks. It is
ideal for large governmental and corporate organizations with extensive translation needs
due to its innovative technology, adaptability and easily expandable language coverage.

All the translation needs of an organization are covered by a single system: there is a
full control of the whole translation process: reception of documents for translation,
filing, automatic translation, distribution to translators, interactive translation, collection
of translations, automatic update of translation database, dispatch of translated
documents. This leads to consistency, ease of maintenance and reliable results.
Automation of translation administration: administrative tasks such as distribution of
files to in-house and external translators, monitoring the translation process, sending
missed deadline notifications, collection of translations, Translation Memory update and
dispatch of final translations, are carried out using a single tool. This entails substantial
savings both in terms of cost and time.
Innovative translation technology: unlike other systems, ESTeam Translator
innovatively combines Translation Memory (TM) and Machine Translation (MT)
technologies. First TM processing is applied, producing high quality translations for
repetitive texts, after which MT processing is applied to translate the ‘gaps’ that were left
untranslated, using dictionaries, grammatical rules and statistics. Finally, the MT result is
automatically corrected by applying Target Language Verification, which automatically
compares the MT result against the TM. The end result is highly accurate translation
gained with maximum efficiency.
Automatic management and full exploitation of TM data: all data is stored in a userdefined hierarchical domain structure (e.g. Health/Hospitals/Staff). Unlike other systems,
ESTeam Translator TM accommodates data of all domains in a single multi-level TM.
When translating, the system gives preference to data under the same domain as the
document to be translated (e.g. Health). Moreover, if no identical or similar translation
can be retrieved at the sentence level, the system searches for translated parts of the

sentence (more likely to be found since phrases are far more repetitive than sentences)
and combines them to produce a full sentence translation. The multi-level and multidomain TM enhances the system’s productivity dramatically, contributing to data
retrieval efficiency and accuracy as well as easy updating and maintenance of the TM,
which leads to significant savings.
Fully multilingual: i.e. not pair-based, which means that once a language is added to the
system it is automatically connected to all supported languages. This leads to full
exploitation of the available data, generating language resources even for language pairs
for which no direct data existed before. For example, translations from English into
French and English into Portuguese will automatically build resources between French
and Portuguese. This entails considerable savings and guarantees fast development of
new languages.
Extremely fast expansion into new languages: the approximate development duration
for any new language linked to all existing ones is just 6 months. ESTeam Translator 
has a large and expanding language coverage, currently supporting all official EU
languages, the languages of the coming new EU members plus Norwegian, Icelandic and
Turkish.
ESTeam Translator has been identified as the most advanced translation software
available by IDC1 (a global technology research company). In 2003 ESTeam AB was
selected as a nominee for the European IST Prize2 for the ESTeam Translator©. ESTeam
