Reports/Coll_Policy_Her: 3/96 Adventist Heritage Collection Canadian Union College Library COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT POLICY Mission Statement The mission of the Adventist heritage collection is to collect and preserve materials relating to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with a special emphasis on Seventh-day Adventism in Canada. The collection supports the educational programs of the college and also serves as a resource for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada. Overview of the Collection The collection houses the Canadian Adventist Messenger from 1932, several histories of the Adventist Church or its institutions in Canada, some local church histories, microform copies of Canadian Adventist school bulletins or other publications from their beginnings to the early 1970s, as well as various Canadian Union College publications. In addition, it includes some Adventist monograph and serial publications published prior to 1915 (or reprints of those items), some duplicate copies of Adventist histories and biographies published since 1915, and a few publications of Adventist “offshoot” organizations. Collection Level Tier 1, with the provision to retain unpublished materials relating to the special emphasis of the collection. Language In harmony with the bilingual nature of Canada, materials are retained in either French or English. Geographical Area The emphasis of the collection is on Seventh-day Adventism in Canada. Formats Materials in all formats relating to the special emphasis of the collection are acquired.
