The Three Brothers In a far away land called The Forbidden City there lived three brothers who fought over everything. Their named were Wang Su, Chang Wu and the smallest called Chan Wayne. Their mother and father were king and queen. The people in the land loved them because they ruled better then any other ruler. One day the king called his sons and said, “You know that I am getting very old and weak. Soon I am going to die, so I need one of you to become king after me….” As he finished saying that the three brothers start shouting at once, “Me, me, I will be better then them!!” Their weak father clutched his old ears. “Please I have come up with a resolution; I will send the three of you on a little journey around China. Each of you must bring a rare item. Who ever bring the finest shall become king! I will give you a month and you must return together.” As he said that the three brothers start packing that instant as well as arguing. Wang Su headed south. Chang Wu headed west. Chan Wayne headed east. Wang Su who had headed south arrived at a little town called Hattie. He spotted a man sitting holding a carpet. “My brother are you a sales man?” he asked. “Why yes. Why do you ask?” replied the man, “Do you wish to buy this beautiful thing?” He handed the carpet to Wang. Wang shook his head. “I asked because I do not understand why you sit here,” asked Wang, “Holding this boring carpet when you have a whole shop full of better looking carpets?” 1 “Well you see, this is no ordinary carpet,” he explained taking Wang into the shop, “This is a magic carpet.” He spread the carpet on the floor and bellowed, “DO YOUR MAGIC!!” as the word came out of his mouth the carpet start floating in the air. “WOW!!!” he gasped “Can I have this?” he was getting ready to pay the man. “Of course you can’t take this. Do you know how much this is worth? This can make me famous and I could become the richest man ever!” he cackled evilly, “So I am going to kill you and I am going to rob you!” he got his sword out ready to kill him. “If you fight me then I ready to fight you and I am going to kill you and take that carpet!” They both got their swords out and start fighting each other and of course Wang won. He grabbed the carpet and jumped on to his horse. Back with Chang Wu who had headed west had reached a village called Keepers Villa. He met this man who was a shopkeeper. “I am looking foe the best item you can offer me. Do you have anything that I can buy?” he told the shopkeeper, “I shall pay as much as I need to.” The shopkeeper took this box and held it so carefully like it was something very valuable. He opened it and there was a golden microscope. Chang laughed, “Many times in my life I have seen a microscope I do not see what is so special about this. May I ask you to explain why you people think this is very special and valuable?” It was the shopkeepers turn to laugh. “Have you never heard of this?” he said to Chang, “This is the most famous microscope. This will show you anything you wish to see. Do you wish to have a try?” Chang took the microscope and put to his eye. “I wish to Princess Jasmine,” he whispered, “The girl I fell in love with a year ago.” At that instant the microscope showed Jasmine in her garden. Chang gasped in amazement. 2 “Please can I take this how much will it cost?” he was willing to pay as much as he had to. “That will be a thousand golden pieces!” Chang did not look surprised or shocked. He quickly paid a thousand pieces, and took it without hesitation. Chan Wayne, who had headed east, arrived at a town Liango. He entered a temple which was full of Buddha’s. One of them came up to Chan, “May I help you?” asked the Buddha. “I come on a journey looking for the finest item,” explained Chan, “Do you have anything I can have or buy? I shall except any challenge.” The Buddha smiled a kind smile. “We have an apple that can cure any illness but you shall have to go through a few challenges blind folded. If you fail any challenge then you fail the chance of winning the apple.” Chan grinned, “I am the best arrows man ever.” The Buddha blind folded Chan and gave him an arrow. Of course Chan won all the challenge. He reached the final challenge. “This is the hardest challenge of all. My son will have an apple on his head. You must hit the apple. If you hit the apple then you will win the enchanted apple. If you hit my son then I will have no choice but to kill you!” Chan got very worried and nervous but he had to take this challenge even if it meant he could be killed by a Buddha because of killing his son. H held the bow and arrow, his hands were wavering. He shot the arrow at something and wondered what it was. He got his blind fold off got the biggest shock ever. He saw something he would have never expecting. He had hit the apple! Jumping up in the air and whooping he took the magical apple and quickly put it into his pocket. Eventually he got out of the temple and jumped onto his horse. 3 The brothers met on their way home. They greeted each other like they had been parted for years and hugged each! Well you see they had never hugged each, well never touched each other unless they were hitting each other! They showed each other what they had brought from their little journey around China. “Look my brothers,” said Chan, “I have brought an apple. This is no ordinary apple it cures any illness but death!” “That is nothing I have a carpet,” said Wang, “This is a magic carpet. You can fly on it.” “I have a microscope,” said Chang, “It shows you any thing you want to see!” Wang took it from Chang’s hand and whispered, “I wish to see my father the king.” At that instant the microscope showed their father. He was dying!! He was weak and almost dead! “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!” Wang screamed and went running to his brothers, “Father is dying! We must go him straight away.” He was gasping for breath but still he ran to his horse ready to go. “Wait,” said Chan who was the oldest, “Horses are too slow. Wang you said that you could fly on your magic carpet. Why don’t we fly on your carpet? It will get us to father far more quickly then horses.” So the three of them packed as quick as ever. They leapt onto the carpet and flew to the palace. Their Chan got out the enchanted apple and his father bit into the apple and felt like the strongest person ever. “My sons you got to me together and together you saved me. I knew that you could work together,” their father smiled, “For that I have made my decision on who to be king!” The three brothers looked glum. “I am making the three of you king! You can rule together and help each other!” THE END 4 5
