FURNITURE MATTERS Recycling * Re-use * Training Dear Colleague, Furniture Matters – Knowledge Sharing Day You are cordially invited to visit Furniture Matters in Morecambe on Tuesday 14th September 2010 Furniture Matters is a recycling, reuse and training charity that has been operating successfully for the past 11 years. We have developed from a small furniture project with three paid staff, no volunteers, one premise and one van to eight successful projects, a fleet of 13 vehicles, 7 premises covering over 60,000 sq. ft, 45 paid staff and multiple contracts with Local Authorities. Furniture Matters currently collects unwanted domestic furniture, office equipment, electrical appliances, computer equipment, cycles and paint – saving over 1,600 tonnes of perfectly reusable items from ending up in landfill each year. Furniture Matters operates many contracts, including local authority bulky waste contracts, Jobcentre Plus training contracts and contracts with private companies for removals and waste reduction. We have faced challenges and pitfalls along the way – yet succeeded nonetheless - and now we want to share information with colleagues across our sector in order to help you develop. So whether you are just starting a project; want to develop or change focus; or even if you are already operating a successful project and just need a bit of new inspiration - this day will be for you!
