Team: Furniture Services
Location: Carlisle, Penrith, Workington, Ulverston
Role in Impact: Furniture services have four community based projects
which collect and distribute furniture to local communities (in some cases
free of charge to those in greatest need). Impact furniture services
collect donated reusable furniture and electrical items free of charge with
intention of recycling those items within the local communities of
Cumbria.
We are a friendly customer lead service that also doubles as a recycling
and environmental project through reuse encouragement. Although we
would never claim to be perfect we try our best to make a positive
IMPACT on people’s lives.
Role of placement: IFS is open to the public on a daily basis and
requires voluntary support in order to keep the service running.
Some of the areas which we need help with are;
 Helping customers with their purchases
 Arranging collections of donated furniture
 Organising the shop floor and arranging goods for sale
 Van work, assisting our drivers with deliveries to customer’s homes
