Team: Furniture Services Location: Carlisle, Penrith, Workington, Ulverston Role in Impact: Furniture services have four community based projects which collect and distribute furniture to local communities (in some cases free of charge to those in greatest need). Impact furniture services collect donated reusable furniture and electrical items free of charge with intention of recycling those items within the local communities of Cumbria. We are a friendly customer lead service that also doubles as a recycling and environmental project through reuse encouragement. Although we would never claim to be perfect we try our best to make a positive IMPACT on people’s lives. Role of placement: IFS is open to the public on a daily basis and requires voluntary support in order to keep the service running. Some of the areas which we need help with are; Helping customers with their purchases Arranging collections of donated furniture Organising the shop floor and arranging goods for sale Van work, assisting our drivers with deliveries to customer’s homes Specific skills and/or personal qualities Someone who has good interpersonal skills and can engage with all our clients Communication and organisational skills Times: can vary slightly from site to site but tends to be between office hours.
