Welcome to Announcements Lauvers Mennonite Church 1. Delbert & Marilyn Swartz and Dave, Sharon, and Garret Hicks have come to the point of wanting to formally become members of the Lauvers church family. They have gone through the church covenant and support that commitment. They will be sharing their testimonies this morning, after which there will be an opportunity to affirm their membership. 2. As announced last Sunday, an opportunity will be given for you to share your affirmation for Eric Brubaker and Delbert Swartz to serve as elders to complete the elder term for Marlin Burkholder. 3. Please pray for Allen Kauffman who has been diagnosed with a 9 to 10 cm abdominal aneurysm. Allen has chosen not to have surgery. Pray for the Lord’s best for Allen and his family. 4. Congregational meeting: The July congregational meeting is coming up Friday evening, July 11, at 7:30 PM. Thank God for His gracious hand as we hear about His blessings in different church ministries, youth activities, pastoral ministry, Ghana missions, financial activities and other areas. This meeting will bring an update on the parking lot project and a look at some exploration the leadership team has been doing on the possibility of additional pastoral hours in the future. We will also vote to fill the needed personnel slots. Please mark your calendar and plan to come and feel ‘the pulse’ of church life and God’s family here. 5. Highlights for the upcoming congregational meeting: 1) In a world that is increasingly hostile to the cross of Christ and in a time when the cross is being removed from churches and ministries, it seems that identifying with the cross of Christ is just as important as ever. For this reason & to have a more focal point for worship the leadership team is proposing that we add a cross to the front of the auditorium. Please pray and reflect about this. Your affirmations or questions will be invited at the congregational meeting. 2) We have recently updated our church polity and with a few clarifications, additional detail, and changes. For this reason, your affirmation is being sought at the congregational meeting. 6. Update your church directory – Shawn & Deb Heimbach’s new info: 4482 Heister Valley Rd., Richfield, PA 17086, #570-539-2403, Deb’s email – dheimbach@tiu11.org. 7. Would you consider displaying some of your handiwork at Dutch Days? Trudy Shearer is inviting anyone to provide items for display at the ‘fancy house’ during Richfield Dutch Days. Items include crafts, carving, photos, paintings, children’s toys, antiques, etc. For more information, call Trudy at 694-3193. She will be at the ‘fancy house’ on the evening of the 15th & on Wednesday, the 16th, after 3 PM to receive items. 8. Plans are being made for a new believers’ class. Gaining Ground: thanks to those who have been giving generously towards the matching funds. There aren’t too many projects ‘closer home’ than this one. Feedback from the trustees indicates the funds are not needed immediately, so giving can continue. A ‘bar graph’ to show the total received towards matching the $9,500 is on the existing graph. Let’s continue to pray and to give generously. 10. This year at Conservative Mennonite Conference a new book will be available, Together in the Work of the Lord, which details the 100 year history of CMC. You can worship God with more than a thousand others to be instructed, challenged, and deepened in faith, and continue to grow in commitment to Jesus Christ and his Church, just as those before did. 11.
