Ashwood Downs Homeowners Association Newsletter, Winter 2007 Current ADHOA 2006 Board Rain, Wind and Falling Trees The fall and winter weather has not been kind to our neighborhood. The heavy rain in November clogged the streets and gutters with mounds of fallen wet leaves. The two wind storms knocked down 10-15 trees. Many of these trees also damaged the sidewalk as they fell. At least one struck a house. One of the first tasks to rebuilding the damage is to repair the dangerous broken sidewalks. We need to get a list of all homeowners that need sidewalk repair to see if we can get a “neighborhood discount”. People have done this in the past when replacing uplifted sidewalks. Annual Homeowner Meeting The Ashwood Downs Homeowners Association will hold their annual meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd at 6:30pm in the party room of the Baja Fresh on SW Scholls Ferry Rd in the Lamb’s Thriftway shopping center. The agenda includes the election of two officers (Vice President and AtLarge) and three Architectural Control Committee members. We will also review our 2006 financial results, establish a budget for 2007 and vote on the 2007 annual fee. Please attend to provide your input on the operation of our HOA. If you need sidewalk repair, for whatever reason, send an email to Fred.rouzpay@ashwooddowns.org and we will collect the names and addresses to determine how many homes want to participate. Replacing the fallen trees is another problem. The City of Beaverton doesn’t recommend replanting our current tree, Raywood Ash, due to many problems that have occurred. The ADHOA Board will designate a new “neighborhood tree” from the City of Beaverton approved street tree list for 4 foot planting areas. This site is located at: http://www.beavertonoregon.gov/dep artments/publicworks/opsmaintenanc e/streettrees.aspx WWW.ASHWOODDOWNS.ORG 2/18/2016 Home Improvement Approval There were a number of major and minor home improvement projects in 2006. Each of these projects that involved remodeling, exterior painting, shingle/ siding replacement and construction of additions required approval by the ADHOA Board. This ensures that the project will conform to the neighborhood CC&R’s that are part of each homeowner’s title. A copy of the home improvement form can be obtained on the ADHOA Web (http://www.ashwooddowns.org) or by contacting a member of the Architectural Control Committee. Board meetings to review applications are the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Leaves and the City of Beaverton This year, falling leaves and the heavy rains resulted in a slippery mess on the streets of our neighborhood. The leaves at the curb clogged the sewer drain during the heavy rains. The City of Beaverton street cleaning efforts were also blocked by the mounds of leaves in the street. Important Reminder Ashwood Downs Homeowners Association Annual Meeting Tuesday, January 23rd @ 6:30pm Baja Fresh Party Room SW Scholls Ferry Rd @ Lamb’s Thriftway Center Unlike the City of Portland, Beaverton does not collect tree leaves raked into the street. In fact, it is a violation of Beaverton City Code to rake leaves from your yard into the street for collection. The homeowner is responsible for yard leaf cleanup. Leaf disposal can be in either the weekly yard waste bucket or taken to a City of Beaverton collection point. Food and drinks will be available http://www.ashwooddowns.org 2/18/2016
