Public Information Campaign on Bharat Nirman
Public Information Campaigns (PICs) are a part of an innovative out-reach strategy developed by
Press Information Bureau, the nodal media relations office of the Government of India. PICs are
being organized country-wide to disseminate information to the targeted beneficiaries on the
Bharat Nirman Programmes of Government of India.
The PIC on Bharat Nirman is being organized by PIB, Bangalore in association with Inter Media
Publicity Coordination Committee, Karnataka and Bangalore Urban Zilla Panchayat from 1st- 5th
September 2006 at Yelahanka, Bangalore North Taluk Headquarters. The five-day theme based
campaign will be a bouquet of exhibition, seminars, open forums and cultural programmes at the
venue and surrounding villages.
Bharat Nirman Exhibition: The main attraction of the Bharat Nirman Exhibition will be the
audio-visual exhibition put up by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Bangalore
in association with Directorate of Field Publicity comprising more than 100 exhibits about
various programmes of Government of India. The exhibition will also screen movies about
NREGA, RTI and other issues of importance. Apart from DAVP’s main exhibition, various
departments of Government of Karnataka, PSUs such as HMT, BEL, BEML, Banks such as
Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank etc will be participating in the exhibition.
Field Programmes: 4 field units of Directorate of Field Publicity viz., Mysore, Chitradurg,
Hassan and Shimoga and 2 units from Department of Information, Govt of Karnataka along with
8 troupes of Song & Drama Division will be covering about 150 villages in and around Bangalore
East and North Taluk. They will organize competitions for target groups like youth, women etc
and also screen topical films such as Chikungunya, Education of the girl child, AIDS Awareness
and many children films such as Karamati Coat, Baaja, Halo etc. They will also put up photo
exhibitions and distribute literature on programmes and projects of Government of India.
