My country contains some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls Bangladesh I am famous for my subtropical monsoon climate. About 10,000 square kilometers of the total area of my country is covered with water, and larger areas are routinely flooded during the monsoon season. Cambodia In 1975 at least 1.5 million people died from execution, enforced hardships, or starvation during the Khmer Rouge regime under POL POT. What country am I? Chile A three-year-old Marxist government was overthrown in 1973 by a dictatorial military regime led by Augusto PINOCHET, who ruled until a freely elected president was installed in 1990. My coastline is 6,435 km long. What country am I? Ghana Formed in 1957 from the merger of the British colony of the Gold Coast and the Togoland trust territory, my country became the first sub-Saharan country in colonial Africa to gain its independence. I am located in Western Africa, bordering the Gulf of Guinea. Hungary I was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which collapsed during World War I. I fell under Communist rule following World War II. I am located in Central Europe, northwest of Romania. India My history goes back to 3,200 BC when Hinduism was first founded. Buddhism, Judaism. Christianity and Islam all exist within the country today. This civilization, one of the oldest in the world, dates back at least 5,000 years. I am located in Southern Asia, bordering the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Mexico My country came under Spanish rule for three centuries before achieving independence early in the 19th century. Philippines I am a series of Islands that became a Spanish colony during the 16th century; I was ceded to the US in 1898 following the Spanish-American War. Taiwan The dominant political issue continues to be the relationship between my country and China - specifically the question of eventual unification. My country established a republic, the first independent republic in Asia, in 1897. However, a few days later, on May 29, 1895, a Japanese military force of over 12,000 soldiers entered and occupied my country. Thailand I was originally known as Siam until 1939. I border Burma, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia. Vietnam I became part of French Indochina in 1887. Independence was declared after World War II, but the French continued to rule until 1954.
