 Operating up to 6 time charter vessels and 5 voyage charter vessels
simultaneously.
 Bunker purchasing (2004 purchased on behalf of AWB, bunkers to the
value of approximately US$5 million)
 The above encompasses fixing out (trading) our tonnage, vessel
operations, post fixture settlements and profit/loss reporting to
management
 Management of all claims directly related to AWB Chartering’s activities
 March to October 2001, directly involved in the development of
Chartering policy and procedures.
 Assisting in the development and growth of AWB Chartering’s 3rd party

 Member of AMSA’s Bulk Cargo Advisory Group.

Under contract (Post fixture / Time Charter Vessel ops)
 Commenced with AWB on contract, assisting with reduction of a
significant post fixture backlog. These responsibilities undertaken for
about 7 months.
 From November 1999, assisted with vessel operations of AWB’s time
charter fleet. This included third party business, lifting steel, barley, U.S.
and European wheat.

 Reporting to Manager, Operations, Scheduling and Technical, ensure
that our Business Unit (Customer) requirements are met in relation to ‘on
time’ delivery of product to European customers.
 Supervision and training of junior personnel in all aspects of shipping

 Ensure that our portfolio of shipping contracts are utilised in conjunction

 Reporting to the Principal Chartering Officer, the efficient commercial
operation of voyage and time chartered vessels in the BHP Transport
chartered fleet.
 Supervision and training of junior operational personnel.
 Maintain close customer liaison and support, which assists in being
proactive to customer requirements. This includes visits to customer’s
office and sites.
 Operational responsibilities include:
- Voyage planning
- Issuance of voyage instructions to vessel Masters
- Calculation of bunker requirements and co-ordination of bunker
purchases for voyage requirements
- Appointment of port agents and surveyors as required.
- Vessel hire payments to Owners
- Final hire reconciliation.
- Commercial voyage analysis.
 Participation in BHP Transport’s continual improvement program,
reviewing and updating procedures and work instructions as require.
