This badge is authorized by the UNECE Transport Division and can only be issued on the correct long duration form (Long Duration Form (see Annex 1)) PLEASE FILL IN THE FORM BEFORE END AUGUST. (2) NGO UNDER ECOSOC Anyone who is from an NGO group under ECOSOC cannot be issued a long duration badge asked for from the UNECE Transport Division, please see the NGO page (reproduced as Annex 2) for how you get accredited. All annual accreditations for NGO Representatives are managed and controlled by the NGO Liaison Office. This type of badge is issued to individuals participating in four (4) or more conferences/meetings per year. The date of validity is set by the Security Identification office. Long duration badges for representatives of NonGovernmental Organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC may be delivered only after official accreditation with the NGO Liaison Office, UNOG. All he participants from Non-Governmental Organizations NOT in consultative status with ECOSOC require a conference badge of type OTHER per conference. UN/SCETDG/25/INF.100 page 4 Annex 2 The NGO Liaison Office is located within the Office of the Director General. The major functions of the Office are based on Article 71 of the Charter of the United Nations and on the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution 1996/31. The Office acts as a focal point within UNOG for all matters pertaining to relations between the United Nations and NGOs, in particular to the consultative relationship with ECOSOC and: provides information, advice, guidance and assistance to representatives of NGOs on issues discussed in United Nations organs as well as on ways and means to contribute efficiently to the work of the United Nations; collaborates with groupings of NGOs in order to develop mechanisms for a better and more efficient cooperation; assists permanent missions in their requests for information on NGOs and their relationships with the United Nations; carries on accreditation procedures for NGO representatives to UNOG and facilitates their participation in meetings and conferences taking place at UNOG; assists in the preparation of and participates in seminars, workshops, conferences on issues related to UN-NGO cooperation; maintains a DATA-BASE and publishes a list of NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC with their addresses.
