Dear Parents and Carers DRESS UP DAY – TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER! To celebrate the grand opening of our brand new library we are planning a Dress Up Day on Tuesday 24th September. We would like all children (and staff!) to come to school dressed as a character from any book. There will be an Opening Ceremony after school at 3.30 pm when the new library will be officially opened by Judith Nicholls, local children’s author and long-time associate of the school. The Travelling Book Fair will also be open in the corridor then for you to purchase books, so please come along! CLASS ASSEMBLIES This year class assemblies will be on Wednesday afternoons from 2.45 pm to 3.15 pm. The timetable will be in next week’s newsletter. No2 – Friday 13th September 2013 PARENTS FORUM ON TUESDAY! Our first Parents Forum of this year will be held next Tuesday 17th September in the hall at 9.10 am. All parents are invited and we are especially keen for our new parents to come along and have a cuppa and a chat with me and other parents about anything to do with school – good or bad – that you would like to raise. We will hold these meetings regularly during the year. Everyone is welcome - see you there! SCHOOL PHOTOS David Wiltshire Photographers will be in school on the morning of Monday 30th September to take individual and family group photos of all pupils. If you have any pre-school aged children that you would like to include in family group photos please bring them to the hall at 8.15 am with their older brothers and sisters. SCHOOL PLACES FOR SEPTEMBER 2014 Applications for secondary school places for September 2014 must be received at County Hall by noon on Thursday 31st October 2013. Parents of children born between 1/09/2009 and 31/08/2010 should apply for a school place for them by noon on Wednesday 15th January 2014. Application forms are available from the school office, or at www.wiltshire.gov.uk. TRAVELLING BOOK FAYRE The Travelling Book Fair will be in school from Wednesday 18th September until next Tuesday 24th September. It will be open in the main corridor after school from 3.15 pm to 3.45 pm. Prices start at £2.99 and any books you buy will earn the school commission (to be taken in books). EXTREME READING COMPETITION The closing date for our Extreme Reading Competition is Monday 16th September, so please send your entries in or email them to admin@bithambrook.wilts.sch.uk. KINGFISHER PRE SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING Kingfisher Pre School is holding a Committee Meeting next Wednesday 18th September at 2 pm. All welcome! Children are welcome too! COMICS AND MAGAZINES NEEDED! If you have any spare children’s comics and magazines at home that you have finished with please send them into school so that we can put them in our new library. Thank you! SCHOOL DINNERS ORDERING REMINDER! Don’t forget to order any dinners for week commencing 23rd September (including the special ‘Medieval Banquet’ promotional dinner on 25th September) by 9.00 am next Tuesday 17th September! STAFF VACANCIES We now have vacancies for 2 Teaching Assistants and 2 Mid-day Supervisory Assistants and the details are below: MIDDAY SUPERVISORY ASSISTANT x 2 Plus casual cover MDSA’s Hours from 12.05 pm to 1.20 pm. Grade B £6.69 - £7.11 per hour (term time only) We are currently looking for two Midday Supervisory Assistants to join our friendly team. Position One is 2 days per week, on a Monday and Tuesday. Position Two is 3 days per week, on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday. If you enjoy the company of children and feel you have the skills to supervise the dining hall, playground and school building during the lunch break, we would love to hear from you! As children in Years 4 to 6 will be taking part in our Enrichment Afternoons every Thursday, please make sure they have their PE kits in school! They will do Art, Gymnastics and Team Building and Problem Solving on a rotating timetable until next July. Year 3 and 4 swimmers will need their swimming kits and waterproof coats on Thursdays.
