1. Describe the location of Docklands.
Docklands is located in Victoria, Australia and is west of the CBD of Melbourne.
CURRENT LAND USE
1. Identify current land use of the Docklands region.
The current land use of Docklands includes:
- Housing
- Retail
- Hospitality
- Recreation
- Business
A SUSTAINABLE DOCKLANDS
1. Describe how the original and current natural environments has been incorporated
into the Docklands region?
In Docklands, there are lots of various natural environments which include:
- Wetlands
- Hill landscape
- Parks
- Developed vegetation
- Plantings of trees
- Grasslands
- Original fauna
These natural environments have been incorporated for shelter, recreation and
various landscapes.
2. One of the key principles in the development of the Docklands region is that is has
to be “Environmentally responsible”. Have the developers been able to achieve
this? How? Provide examples with the use of photos to support your answer.
In my opinion, developers of the Docklands region haven’t been able to achieve this
as it is so modern that not much vegetation is present.
3. In what ways has the history of the area been reflected in the redevelopment?
Provide evidence to support your findings.
There are some history that is still present at Docklands like the port facilities at the
Central Pier and original natural vegetation and historical buildings.
4. In what ways have the first inhabitants (the Wurundjeri clans of the Kulin nation) of the
wetlands been reflected in the development of Docklands? Provide evidence to support
your findings.

There are approximately 15 food outlets featured along the Promenade.

catering for?
The cost of meals at NewQuay and Waterfront City cafes/restaurants are all expensive and
they are mainly catered for adults and tourists visiting Docklands.
5. List the main groups of people who would be attracted to the area as visitors or who
would live at Docklands. Outline the features/facilities of Docklands that have attracted
these people to the area.
The main group of people who would be attracted to Docklands would be mainly tourists
from undeveloped countries as it would be nice for them to experience the place we call
Docklands. Docklands would be unique.
