Movement Matters programme Basic Skills Class: Primary 1 Our homework will focus on: Jolly Phonics – Practising the letter sounds. Reading – Practising our common words. Term: 1 Jolly Phonics – practising the letter formations Maths – Practising our number formation and counting Suggestions for helping your child: Practise your child’s sounds every day. It is important that they know their sounds extremely well so keep going over them. Try to make it fun for them by playing games with the letters. Remember to still read books to your child. Let them pick their favourite story or take them to the library to choose some books. Encourage your child to look for the sounds and numbers they are learning in the world around them. Use any objects you have in the house to help with counting e.g. coins, buttons, cutlery, pens, pencils, toys.
