Blood Tests at Cromer Hospital Due to limited availability of appointments at the Practice for blood tests we are encouraging patients to attend Cromer Hospital for routine blood tests. We have had excellent feedback from patients already using this service as they are able to access an appointment sooner than we can offer at the Practice and at a time which is more convenient to them (e.g. afternoon appointments with no need to book). You can simply turn up with your blood form at the Phlebotomy Department (situated on the first floor of the hospital) and you will be seen shortly thereafter. This has the benefit of freeing up more appointments for those patients who absolutely need to be seen at the Surgery. We will still be running a phlebotomy service at the Practice for patients who would find it difficult to attend Cromer Hospital or who have more complex needs. If this applies to you please contact the Reception Team on 01263 712461 to make an appointment. Opening Times at Cromer Hospital: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4pm (closed Bank Holidays) (Please be aware there is a reduced service between 12pm & 2pm) If you require a fasting blood test, please attend any time between 8:30 & 9:30am. Alternatively you can phone to arrange an appointment for a fasting blood test by calling 01603 646206. If you have any queries please call the Phlebotomy Department at Cromer Hospital on 01603 646168. DON’T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR BLOOD FORM Parking Pay & Display parking is available with 67 spaces and 2 spaces for disabled drivers. (Map overleaf) FAQ’s Q: Will my results go back to the Surgery? A: Yes, your results will be sent to the Doctor / Nurse at the Surgery. Q: When should I contact the Surgery for my results? A: Please call after 10am and allow at least 1 week before contacting the Surgery for your blood results. The number to call is: 01263 714328. Q: How will I know if I need to fast for my blood test? A: You will be told by your Doctor / Nurse or in your clinic letter. Most tests do not require fasting. Q: How long do I need to fast before a fasting blood test? A: You need to fast for 12 hours before a fasting blood test, and only drink water during this period. We therefore advise you have your test as early as possible so that you only need to fast over-night. Q: What do I need to take with me to the Hospital? A: All you need to take with you is your blood form (which was given to you by your Doctor/Nurse, enclosed in your clinic letter or available from reception). Q: What if I am housebound and cannot attend the Hospital? A: If this applies to you, please contact the Surgery who can organise for a District Nurse to visit you at home for your blood test.
