PRESS RELEASE November 2011 Aluminium fire door systems and wall units Schüco ADS 80 FR system platform Schüco system solutions for fire protection meet all the complex requirements of a modern building concept in terms of functionality, design and efficiency. For fire doors with 80 mm basic depth, metal fabricators benefit from a system platform that features two completely different yet compatible systems: Schüco ADS 80 FR 30 (Aluminium Door System, 80 mm basic depth, Fire Resistant for 30 minutes) fire doors and wall units, plus ADS 80 FR 60. Both systems have been tested in accordance with DIN 4102 and EN 1364/1634. Custom-built multipurpose doors can be created with additional fixtures, for example, by combining smoke protection, burglar resistance, access control and sound reduction. Key applications of the Schüco ADS 80 FR 30 fire protection system include the transparent design of emergency exits and escape routes, as well as room separation for effective fire protection with largespan, glazed system constructions. The system including the system fittings is fully approved by the building authorities and fulfils the fire resistance classes T30, F30 and G30 in accordance with DIN 4102, plus EI30 and EW30 in accordance with EN 1364/1634 – predominantly without the use of fire boards. The basic depth of 80 mm ensures a high level of profile stability, making it suitable for large leaf heights with a clear opening dimension of 2988 mm. Concealed 180° door hinges and integrated door closers can be installed. Another system benefit is that multi-purpose doors can be produced with additional fixtures, for example, in conjunction with integrated Schüco emergency exit switch, access control with fingerprint, and burglar resistance up to WK3. The slender profile face widths create an attractive appearance and the fire boards previously fitted by the fabricator are no longer required, markedly reducing production times. Furthermore, in contrast to conventional methods, the barrel hinges 2 used here are inserted quickly and easily into the multi-purpose groove using sliding blocks. All the necessary fittings, for example, locks, electric strike or security pins, are also fixed by means of a sliding block. The use of the special Schüco fire-resistant foam 288121, instead of the standard A1 mineral wool, is an innovation which can significantly reduce installation times. It is, however, imperative that only special Schüco fire-resistant foam – and never conventional installation foam – is used for fire protection. The Schüco ADS 80 FR 60 fire protection system is primarily used in the rest of Europe due to the specific requirements of the building authorities in different countries. Building authority approval for Germany is pending. The system including the system fittings has been fully tested and fulfils the fire resistance classes T60 and F60 in accordance with DIN 4102, as well as EI60 in accordance with EN 1364/1634. The design versatility, different infill options and fabrication benefits are almost identical to those for Schüco ADS 80 FR 30. Both the highly robust aluminium constructions allow stylish, flowing transitions from the fire protection area to the standard section, as well as with smoke doors. Schüco – Green Technology for the Blue Planet. That means clean energy from solar products and windows. And the contribution that Schüco makes to the environment with pioneering building envelopes. To be more precise, with Energy3: saving energy – generating energy – networking energy. Window and façade systems not only save energy due to optimum thermal insulation, they also generate energy thanks to efficient solar solutions. This creates an excess of energy which can be used by means of intelligent networking. For building functions, as well as for everyday life. The result is a significant step towards energy self-sufficiency – towards the sustainable conservation of natural resources. And towards a secure future. With 5250 employees and 12,000 partner companies, Schüco is active in 78 countries and achieved turnover of 2.38 billion euros in 2010. 3 Further information about publication: Schüco International KG Ulrike Krüger Karolinenstr. 1 - 15 33609 Bielefeld, Germany Tel.: +49 (0)521 783-803 Fax: +49 (0)521 783-657 e-mail: PR@schueco.com Picture credits: Schüco International KG Schüco ADS 80 FR 30 fire protection system for doors without fire boards.
