OBITUARY-in another paper no date Willard Franklin Carter expired at the home of his son Luther Carter, October 15, 1946 at 5:30am. He was 85 years of age. Willard was the son of Ludwell Carter and Mary Mahala McCullough Carter and was born near Quincy, Indiana. His mother passed away when he was a small boy, leaving he and one sister Belle Carter McGinnis. Ludwell Carter remarried to Margaret Rumple, in this home the children were reared. To this union were born the following half brothers and sisters Trent,Adolph,Jim May, twins,Odin and Ada and Ben who died in infancy. At the age of 20 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Reed. Into this home was born Viola and Iva who preceded him in death and living at the present time Everett, Hazel, Oral, Gloe, and Luther. There are 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great,great grandchild. Willard and Elizabeth started their home in Morgan county in Amity community. He was the only living Charter member of the Amity Baptist church, which he helped build. They later moved to Lewisville In. He was always engaged in farming and raising live stock. Most of his early life was spent in this community. He moved to Martinsville Indiana and for the last few years resided with his son, Luther Carter. For a number of years he had made his home with his children, spending time with each. In addition to Mrs Whitaker, he leaves two other daughters, Mrs Vance Colwell of Paragon RR 1 and Mrs Wilbur Sierp of Clermont two sons Elzie Carter of Indianapolis, and Loran Carter of Brownsburg 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
