Saturday 10th October 2015 Anne Artis: Speed Spinning Strathpeffer Community Centre 10am – 4pm Anne’s Dyeing workshop at the Dornoch Fibre Fest was very well received, hence the invitation to return to the Highlands for this workshop. Anne’s ‘speed spinning’ involves each person with a bag of 10 to 12 different fibres to spin: some challenging and some easy. She also talks about different fibres and fleeces. Anne is a lively and entertaining performer so it should be fun. Come and see for yourself! Saturday 24th October AGM to be followed by lunch and a members’ afternoon, including a ‘stash swap’. Saturday 14th November 2015 Sam Goates: Design Stories Strathpeffer Community Centre 10am – 12.30pm Sam met her first loom at Glasgow School of Art in 1985. After graduating, Sam went to Australia for a holiday and spent 20 years designing interior textiles that were woven in mills around the world. Now back in Scotland, Sam is launching her new business Woven In The Bone, weaving woollen cloth on a Victorian-designed foot-treadle loom. Sam will talk about her design process, with photos, sketchbooks, samples and cloth from 30 years of design for weaving. www.facebook.com/WovenInTheBone www.weareonecreative.com Campaign for Wool: Wool Week 5th-11th October 2015 The Campaign for Wool is hosting a special event with The Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers called TwinSpin. The idea behind this event is to encourage more people to take up spinning, particular as there has been a resurgence in knitting. The Campaign for Wool will be designing a special logo that will sit alongside that of the Association and Campaign for Wool. They will also produce a poster for the event and promote it heavily through social media, where they have a huge following, as well as national press & media.
