Dear Parents and Carers
Winter Wonderland
We are all gearing up for our Winter Wonderland on Saturday and keeping our fingers crossed for fine
weather… Looking forward to seeing you all at this great event!
This will be followed by our open afternoon on the 2nd December – do come and see the school in
action. You could even join in with the children’s learning.
“A little Bird told me”
Those of you with children in Oak and Hazel will have received a note about their nativity “A little
Bird told me.” Miss Jones is on the lookout for costume helpers, so if there is anyone out there who
can lend a hand – please see Miss Jones – you don’t have to have a child in Oak or Hazel!
Workshop
On the 4th December at 3.30, Miss Jones and Mrs Thomas will be holding a talk/workshop on the
teaching of phonics, reading and Read Write Inc – which is the system through which we introduce the
sounds associated with reading and writing and then progress. Anyone interested, is welcome to
attend.
Mrs Rivers will hold a “crèche” if you need your school age or pre-school children looked after, whilst
attending this meeting – she will need some idea of numbers though so that she can organise activities.
Additionally on the 4th December we have Jerry Stone visiting who is an expert on Space. He will be
having workshops throughout the whole day with all the classes on various aspects. Miss Jones would
like to invite her class parents in to build rockets with their children in the afternoon from 1.30pm.
Polite Reminder
The gate to the school via the car park should only be used once the Main school entrance is closed (by
the main road and where Mrs Catt our Road Crossing Patrol stands).
Children should not be using the car park entrance – with occasional exceptions for medical
circumstances.
The car park is for staff and official visitors only.
We look forward to seeing you at our many and varied upcoming events!
Yours sincerely
Anita Rivers (Mrs)
Headteacher
