ANNUAL PROVOST REMEMBRANCE WEEKEND 6-9 NOVEMBER 2014
(REVISED INSTRUCTION)
1. The annual Provost Remembrance Weekend will take place in London over the period 6-9
November 2014, and will be conducted in three phases as follows:
a. Thursday 6 November 2014
The opening of the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey by HM The Queen (or
Her designated representative). All detail is contained within Annex A.
b. Saturday 8 November 2014
The RMP/MPS (including the respective Associations) Service of Remembrance will
take place at Westminster Abbey at 1200 hrs. All detail is contained within Annex B.
c. Sunday 9 November 2014
The Royal British Legion (RBL) Cenotaph Parade will take place in Horse
Guards/Whitehall at 1100 hrs. All detail is contained within Annex C.
2. Any further detail, which Association members feel they require, may be obtained from the
NEC. The serving cohort should contact their respective Regimental Headquarters.

FIELD OF REMEMBRANCE
THURSDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2014
The Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey will be opened by HM The Queen or her
designated representative. Details for both serving or retired, who may wish to attend is as
follows:
Timings
1030 hours. All members should parade at this time at the Royal Military Police (RMP) and
Military Police Staff (MPS) Plots. Time should be allowed to pass through the Security
Cordon at Westminster Abbey. Entry will be by ticket only, which may be obtained from the
NEC. Limited tickets are available (10) and will be issued on a “first come” basis.
1100 hours. HM The Queen (or Her representative) opens the Field of Remembrance.
Dress
Serving RMP/MPS attendees should dress in accordance with extant regulation as directed
by PM (A). All retired membership should wear civilian clothes, medals and beret in
accordance with respective Association rules.

PROVOST ANNUAL SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
SATURDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2014
1.
The Provost Service of Remembrance will take place at Westminster Abbey at 1200
hours on Saturday 8 November 2014.
2.
Details for those wishing to attend are as follows:
a. Timings/Order of Service
Attached to this Annex at Appendix 1.
b. Dress
All members who wish to attend should wear civilian clothes, medals and appropriate
head-dress .
c. Service Support
To be advised.
d. Sound System
The Regimental Secretary is requested to ensure that the amplification sound system
for use by the Padre and Senior Officers is made available and "set up" by 1045 hrs.

The Saturday prior to
Remembrance Sunday
1158 hours
The Association Standards with Escorts, march-on preceding the Chaplain
and stand immediately adjacent to the
Royal Military Police and Military Provost Staff Plots.
1200 - 1210 hours
The Chaplain starts the ceremony with a prayer.
The Provost Marshal will then say:
"We plant these crosses in memory of our fallen comrades of the
Military Police and Military Provost Staff".
Representative Crosses will then be placed in the following order:
The Deputy-Colonel Commandant (Provost)
The Provost Marshal and Inspector of Service Custody Premises (Army)
The Senior Military Provost Staff Officer
The Provost Sergeant-Major
The Chairman of the Royal Military Police Association
The Secretary of the Military Provost Staff Association
Families and Friends of the Fallen
The Senior Military Provost Staff Officer will then say:
“Teach us good Lord to serve thee as thou deservest:
To give and not to count the cost, to fight
and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing
that we do thy will.
Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen”.
Reading and Homily by the Chaplain.
The Provost Sergeant-Major will then say:
"They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them"
Response: "We will remember them"
LAST POST
Then shall follow a Two-Minute Silence
REVEILLE
The Provost Sergeant-Major will then say:
"When you go home tell them of us and say:
For your tomorrow we gave our today"
The Chaplain will then offer prayers including the Royal Military
Police and Military Police Staff Collects and will give The
Blessing.
THE ROYAL MILITARY POLICE COLLECT
“Almighty God, by whose grace we are called to positions of
responsibility and trust, bless we pray thee, all members of the
Royal Military Police. Inspire us to courage and wisdom,
courtesy and faithfulness; grant us a true knowledge of thy will
that we may guide our comrades aright; thy by serving others in
justice and mercy we may also serve thee and so become more
worthy of our calling; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
THE MILITARY PROVOST STAFF COLLECT
“Almighty God, whose ways are justice and peace and whose
judgements are righteous and merciful, grant us thy servants of
the Military Provost Staff the spirit of understanding and
compassion, that by thy inspiration we may be faithful in the
discharge of our duties, zealous in the protection of the weak
and fainthearted, and selfless in serving the best interests of
those who have been committed to our charge. We ask this in
the name, and in the service of, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ. Amen.”

RBL CENOTAPH PARADE REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2014
Attendance. Branch Secretaries are required to advise the undersigned (NEC) by 25 October
2014, the names of their members who wish to take part in the parade. In the interests of
security, numbered tickets will again be issued and must be carried at all times when attending
the Parade as individuals may be subject to search. Bids for tickets should be made on the
application form at Appendix 1 to this Annex.
RMP serving members may join the parade if they so wish in ‘mufti’, having noted that veterans
and the families of the fallen are the priority for the allocation of the limited number tickets
supplied to the RMP contingent by the RBL. Bids for tickets should be made to the Regimental
Secretary.

0945 hrs
1015 hrs
1230 hrs (approx)
All RMPA members on Parade at Horse Guards.
March-off from Horse Guards to The Cenotaph, Whitehall.
Dispersal.
The leading file of the RMPA members behind the Officer contingent will be the wreath bearer
(left marker), who this year will be a member of Manchester Branch RMPA, the National
Standard Bearer (right marker) and other members designated by the Parade Marshal. All
members are requested to comply with this requirement.
All members on parade should wear medals and red beret; commemorative medals are not to be
worn as directed by the RBL and in accordance with the Association’s own rules. Officers may
wear bowler hats and carry furled umbrellas.
As in previous years, discipline in respect of dress, drinking, smoking and other matters whilst
on Parade must be of the highest order.
Accommodation.
Accommodation requirements over the weekend are the responsibility of
the individual concerned. CO 4 RMP has kindly organized transport, accommodation and
messing at minimal cost in Aldershot. Facilities include:
a. Accommodation, messing and secure parking in Aldershot Transit Facility.
b. Transport to and from Westminster on both Saturday and Sunday.
c.. Bar facilities on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
Branch members must book the Aldershot option with RHQ RMP by no later than Sunday
26 October 2014, using the form at Appendix 2 to Annex C. Currently only one bus has been
booked so get everyone must get their applications in early. Places on the minibus will be
allocated on a strict first-come-first-served basis!
