BAD DOGGIE!
Are pit bull dogs
dangerous? Should
they be illegal to
own? According to
Texas Health &
Safety Code, section
822.047, bans
against specific breeds of dogs, such as pit
bulls, are illegal. Other states, such as
Colorado, allow breed specific laws (BSLs)
banning certain breeds. Denver, CO,
recently enacted a ban on pit bulls and has
put down 150 pit bulls since May. Many pit
bull lovers oppose such BSLs and offer less

drastic alternatives. In some states, BSLs
are not allowed. Check out this cool map to
see what states have breed specific laws
(BSLs): http://www.understand-abull.com/BSL/Locations/USLocations.htm
It will also tell you which states have
repealed BSLs. Sit, stay!
