Are pit bull dogs dangerous? Should they be illegal to own? According to Texas Health & Safety Code, section 822.047, bans against specific breeds of dogs, such as pit bulls, are illegal. Other states, such as Colorado, allow breed specific laws (BSLs) banning certain breeds. Denver, CO, recently enacted a ban on pit bulls and has put down 150 pit bulls since May. Many pit bull lovers oppose such BSLs and offer less August 2005 drastic alternatives. In some states, BSLs are not allowed.
