ESW Open Seminar Series CIE Tuesday 10th December, 4.30pm Room 107, Fulton Speaker Professor Steven J Coombs, Head of the School of Education, University of the South Pacific presents: Living Global Citizenship: Transcending the cultural divide through international education partnerships ____________________________________ In this seminar, Professor Coombs will explore the conceptual framework of “Living Citizenship” as a means for developing international continuing professional development through action research projects. It will build on the recent Educational Action Research article by Coombs & Potts [Living Citizenship: Transcending the cultural divide] which looked at the adaptation of Whitehead’s (2005) living educational theory approach and how it supports the proposed paradigm of Living Citizenship. Professor Coombs will also consider how Living Citizenship supports international educational partnerships by enabling participants’ as critically active citizens to transcend the cultural divide. This global context further extends the conceptual framework that has recently led Whitehead, Potts and Coombs himself to propose the idea of ‘Living Global Citizenship’. ____________________________________ NOTE: Remote participation is not available for this event This seminar will be recorded and available to view retrospectively at: www.sussex.ac.uk/education/seminars
