School Board Notes The Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit Board of Directors held their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Henderson, Mr. Bovalino, Ms. Aquino, Mr. Ross, Mr. Antonini, Mr. Carver, Ms. Robbins and Mr. McGeehan MEMBERS ABSENT: Mr. Angus, Ms. Cook, Mr. Gilarno, Mr. Bufalini and Mr. Long OTHERS PRESENT: Dr. Rosendale, Ms. Weldon, Attorney Al Steff, Mrs. Wagner-Deitch, Mrs. Niedbala, Mrs. Murtha, Ms. Engel and Mrs. Ference ACTION TAKEN: 1. The Board took action to extend the employment of Miss Hannah Oliver as a long-term substitute for the remainder of the 2015-2016 school year. 2. The Board employed Ms. Pamela Weston as an ESL instructor. 3. The Board approved the following persons as additions to the Teacher Aide Substitute List for the 2015-2016 school year: a. Ms. Chelsea Miller, Midland, PA b. Ms. Theresa Johnson, Beaver Falls, PA c. Mr. William Cairns, Ambridge, PA 4. The Board cancelled the December 23, 2015, Board of Directors’ meeting and administration was granted the authority to pay bills with ratification at the January 27, 2016, Board meeting. 5. The Board took action to approve the request to solicit bids for the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit’s Joint Purchasing Program for the 2016-2017 school year. 6. The Board approved the GASB 54 – Committed Fund Balance for the Central Office Building and New Horizon School. These monies will be used for future capital needs, including any renovation/repair projects. 7. The Board granted authorization to solicit bids for a countywide telephone consortium to purchase local and long distance telecommunication services. ADDENDUM ITEMS 8. The Board adopted the Memorandum of Understanding with the Beaver County Education Association. Clarification was necessary for Article II Section I of the Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement pertaining to ratings. CORRESPONDENCE – None EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT A. BVIU Annual Reorganization Dinner Meeting – December 15, 2015 The BVIU Annual Reorganization Dinner Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the Beaver County Career & Technology Center. Please make your reservations through your local school district superintendent’s office. SOLICITOR’S REPORT – Nothing to report. OTHER BUSINESS – The final payment for the unit ventilator system was discussed. Dr. Rosendale reviewed the preliminary 2016-2017 General Operating budget with the Board. Dr. Rosendale thanked the members of the Board whose terms expire, Mr. Henderson, Ms. Aquino and Ms. Robbins. A “Resolution of Praise” will be sent to them. Mrs. Murtha gave a brief synopsis about the trip to Capitol Hill that she attended with Dr. Rosendale. Respectfully submitted, Dr. Eric G.
