We are also looking into buying tablets to have as a class set as well as a big project to build a wooden classroom up in the top field. David Milton has been a star in renovating our football goals and fitting new netting to them. We are now ready for the football gala! Congratulations to Willow class as every single family has contributed towards swimming! We hope your child enjoys using their new skipping rope. If they intend bringing it to school please make sure it is clearly marked with their name. The Skipping Workshop has kindly provided some ropes for playtime use and unmarked ropes may get lost. We are continuing to have problems with school jumpers going missing. Please name them very clearly so that we can return them to rightful owners. Readformyschool Well done to the 14 children who have now signed up for this reading website – I hope you’ve seen my messages! Oliver W, Amber, Ryan F, Ryan W, Zak W, Lloyd H, Theo H, Ellie T, Isabel R, Oliver B, Jamie D, Nathaniel W, Reece O’M, Libby – you are all trying to be the best you can be at reading. If you’ve not yet signed up - it’s free, it’s easy (just needs a name and a password) and it’s great for finding an amazing number of great books. Sign up this weekend and give your child something extra to help them enjoy reading – www.readformyschool.co.uk To start an account, go to the website and then put in our classroom code 19092. You then register your child by putting in a name, year group and a password. (The age is to then give lists of books suitable for that age.) Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers If you happen to be shopping in Sainsbury’s, please pick up the vouchers as we are collecting them in the foyer. Each year we manage to get some great resources to improve our PE and gardening equipment. This week’s RACER focus…. Discounted vegboxes that raise money for school projects We’re excited to announce that Knights Templar and Little Vikings Nursery have partnered with local, organic vegetable farm, Plowright Organic to offer reduced cost vegboxes at the school. Anyone in the community is able to use this service. Each week, if the school or nursery has 10 or more people ordering, Plowright will give us a donation to put towards exciting food based projects, such as growing our own veg and running cookery demonstrations; so please do encourage as many people as you can to order this way. How to order: Please order vegboxes by 11pm on Tuesdays via Plowright’s website: www.plowrightorganic.co.uk, using the codes: KTSmall KTMedium KTLarge for a small box (£7.83 reduced from £8.70) for a medium box, or (£10.89 reduced from £12.10) for a large box (£13.50 reduced from £15) Using the codes will get you a 10% discount on standard vegbox prices if you are having your box delivered to school. Please write KNIGHTS TEMPLAR COLLECTION POINT in the delivery notes. The boxes will be delivered before school on Friday, and left outside Little Vikings Children’s Centre for you to collect. You can call the farm on 01278 734580 if you have any queries. Plowright does accept Healthy Start vouchers. Please return the boxes for reuse each week. Bags will be left at the collection point to help you transport your vegetables. “Switching to organic crop consumption is equivalent to eating one or two additional portions of fruit or vegetables per day.” (Newcastle University, 2014) Jim Jam Jamboree Our annual favourite will take place on Thursday 12th February from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. For those new to the event, children bring along their jimjams, dressing gowns, slippers, etc and change into them at the end of the day. We then all gather together and the children go into group for each of their story sessions. As well as hearing stories from different people, they also have a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows – much enjoyed! As this event is so popular, we won’t be running Parrot Club on that evening. Mrs Hooper will be selling tickets before school on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th February. If you are unable to come into school, please send in an envelope containing £1, with the child’s name and also any details of dietary needs such as dairy intolerance so that we can meet their needs. West Somerset First Schools’ Football gala Next Friday, 6th February, we will be hosting the indoor football gala. It will be starting at 3.30pm and finishing at about 5.30pm. Please be aware that the school will be very busy at the end of the day with all the children from the other schools arriving. If your Y4 child has been regularly coming to play on Thursdays, they will be part of our school teams. Please let me know after Thursday practice if they won’t be able to come. Any parents willing to help at the gala will be very welcome. Bible Day ~ Share your worries Next Friday, we will be joined by Carl Smethurst, Vincent Wood, Hannah de Bourcier, Patrick Weld, Jane Sefton to focus on how to deal with worries. If you’d like to join us for the special assembly at the end of the day at 2.45pm, you’d be very welcome.
