Definitions
Company requirements include the policy, procedures, and methodologies of the
company. They include legislative and regulatory requirements which may apply
across the company or to a specific site. Requirements are documented in the
company’s health and safety plans, traffic management plans, contract work
programmes, quality assurance programmes, policies, and procedural documents.
Set-out means to set out site by survey method using pegs.
Road controlling authority in relation to a road, means the Minister, Department of
State, Crown entity, State enterprise, or territorial authority that controls the road.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Describe the set-out of stormwater and subsoil drainage systems.
Performance criteria
1.1
Options for setting-out drainage lines are described in terms of drainage
situation.
Range
situations – open drain, subsoil drain, piped drain;
options may include – laser, boning rods, string lines.
1.2
Trench width is determined in accordance with road controlling authority
specifications.
1.3
Options for achieving the depth and gradient of trenching are described in
accordance with company requirements.
Range
options include – laser, sight bars, boning rods, spirit levels.
Element 2
Describe drainage system maintenance.
Performance criteria
2.1
Description identifies maintenance of pavement drainage, sumps, piped
stormwater drains, and subsoil drainage in accordance with company
requirements.
2.2
Description identifies inspection methods for the maintenance of drains,
culverts, and sumps in accordance with company requirements.

Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
