is only a short distance north of downtown Bel Air.

important in these types of critical situations, and we want your pet to get the treatment he or she
needs as quickly as possible.
We also treat animals whose injuries or illnesses lie outside the scope of routine veterinary practice

referring veterinarian frequently on all matters pertaining to your pet’s health status so that we can
make the most comprehensive diagnosis and develop a detailed, effective treatment plan.
The pet you love deserves the best, and, at Harford Emergency & Referral Veterinary Services, your
pet will receive quality medical attention and will be treated with kindness and compassion. Get in

Harford Emergency & Referral Veterinary Services has invested in state-of-the-art equipment and
technology to help ensure your pet has access to the type of care they need. We urge you to
remember that annual checkups and preventative care from your regular vet may help alleviate the
necessity for emergency treatment.
Our facility features a complete digital radiology suite, an intensive care unit, a surgical suite and an
in-house laboratory. We also maintain a comfortable reception area where you’re free to wait as we
treat your pet.
In our emergency care, we use much of the same equipment that is used in your hospital’s emergency
room to stabilize your critically ill pet. We use intravenous catheters to administer fluids, blood
products, and medications, and we administer oxygen therapy services as well.
If your pet requires surgery, our surgical suites use advanced monitoring technology as well as
anesthetic support to keep your pet safe and comfortable. We perform a comprehensive range of
surgical procedures, including:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Cesarean sections
Endoscopies for foreign body retrieval
Exploratory laparotomies
Gastric dilatations for volvulus or bloating
Gastrointestinal surgeries for foreign body removal
Hernia repairs
Laceration and wound repairs
Once your pet is stabilized, we may transfer them to our intensive care suite. Our ICU is fully
equipped with sophisticated technology that assists us in performing any necessary tests of your pet’s
cardiac status.
Our on-site laboratory helps ensure that we get the diagnostic information we need to treat your pet
quickly and effectively. In addition to standard tests like CBCs, urinalyses and fecal analysis, our
laboratory allows us to perform tests that are specific for cats and dogs.
