BOCES EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION SUMMER SCHOOL POSITIONS
6 weeks (July 7 - August 15, 2014) Location: Smith School – BOCES Campus
Civil Service: Non-Competitive (T.A./O.T.) or Certified (Teacher/TVI/Speech)
POSITIONS NEEDED FOR 6-WEEK SESSION:
 Special Education Teacher
 Teacher of the Visually Impaired
 Speech Therapist
 Occupational Therapist
 Teacher Aide
QUALIFICATIONS:
Special Education Teacher – New York State Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification, K-12.
Teacher of the Visually Impaired: New York State Certification as Teacher of the Blind/Partially Sighted.
Speech Therapist – NYS License and/or certification as Registered S.L.P. (preferred) or Speech Therapist.
Occupational Therapist* - Must possess a license and current registration by the New York State Education
Department as an Occupational Therapist. (Must meet Civil Service requirements), residency for O.T. is
waived due to difficulty in recruitment. *Must complete county on-line job application.
Teacher Aide* - High school diploma or (HSE) required; OR 4 years of full time paid experience in the
particular subjects taught in the classrooms to which teacher aide is to be assigned; OR possession of current
certification by NYS or other appropriate agency to practice the vocation in which assigned; OR any
equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. *Must

SUMMER WORK DATES: July 7 to August 15, 2014 (6-weeks) (30 days)
SALARY/RATES:
Special Education Teacher – TVI - Speech Therapist – O.T. – ($41,285.00 / 2013-2014 base salary w/
possible increase + experience / Grad. Credits / Master’s Degree – pro-rated at 1/200th for time worked.)
Teacher Aide - $10.76 per hour.
