Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector (GCVS) GCVS is a dynamic and forward-thinking voluntary sector development agency which provides information, advice, training and practical, professional support to 1,000 voluntary and community groups in Glasgow. We coordinate the voluntary sector’s input to policy and planning, and work in strategic partnerships with all the major players in regeneration, health, learning and economic development within Glasgow. We have IIP status; we offer our staff excellent opportunities for professional development; and we promote work-life balance initiatives. GCVS, a membership organisation, is the main development agency and advocate for voluntary and community organisations in Glasgow and is one of the largest Council’s for the Voluntary Sector in the UK. We are also one of four key partners that form Glasgow’s Third Sector Interface. The interface is the partnership that supports and represents the third sector in Glasgow and through which the Scottish Government engages with the third sector. We are now looking to recruit the following post. Connect and Communications Manager Full time – 35 hours – Fixed term: Initially for One year – Grade 8 £32,775 - £35,311 GCVS is seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and experienced manager to manage GCVS’s core policy, research and communications functions, and lead and support the Connect and Communications Activity (CCA) Team effectively to deliver their work-plan, in order that Third Sector organisations in Glasgow are provided with a service of the highest possible quality and that the outcomes identified for our CCA work – around key policy priorities – are achieved effectively, timeously and to budget. The post-holder will work closely with other GCVS and TSI colleagues to sustain and develop the Service; to ensure that a positive culture and ethos of continuous development is fostered within the Team and that equality underpins its work. To succeed in this post you will have proven strong track record of effective project management, excellent people management experience and an ability to lead and motivate an experienced and knowledgeable team. An understanding of the development needs of Third Sector, the policy environment and of public sector structures and processes; knowledge of “what works” in terms of effective communications for different audiences and experience of delivering effective communications activities are also essential criteria.
