Introduction
This curriculum is compiled on the base of State Educational Standart of the Republic of
Uzbekistan and dentist’s training program. There are determined main objects and goals of the
subject, scope of students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills, control methods of
students’ knowledge, new pedagogical technologies. General program includes independent and
other diseases related with organs and systems, which cause development of morphologic
elements and appearing of diseases of oral mucous membrane (MMOC). This curriculum has a
purpose to form ability of clinical thinking, which is directed on acquirement of future
profession.
Goals and tasks of curriculum:
The main object of hospital therapeutic stomatology is to form theoretical and practical
knowledge and manual skills about basic dental diseases and its complications, etiologic factors
and pathogenic mechanisms of its development, clinical course, diagnostic methods, treatment
and prevention.
Tasks of education:
- To extend students’ knowledge on positions of pathologic processes on oral mucous
membrane and is clinical course;
- Use professional knowledge in diagnostics of separated nosologic diseases;
- To teach students to diagnose diseases of oral mucous membrane, to carry out differential
diagnostics, methods and criteria of treatment, to teach basics of prevention of these
dideases;
- To teach basics of medical ethics and deontology, which are needed for individual
treatment of patients.
Requirements to knowledge, abilities and skills of students.
During the study of Hospital therapeutic stomatology a bachelor must know and be able
to:
- morphologic elements of lesion at diseases of oral mucous membrane, basic and
additional methods of investigations of patients, influence of local and general factors on oral
mucous membrane. Most common diseases of oral mucous membrane, its diagnostics,
differential diagnostics, treatment. Traumatic lesions of oral mucous membrane. Metabolic
imbalance at different diseases of organs and systems. Diseases of mucous membrane and red
border of lips. Infectious, viral diseases of oral mucous membrane and tactic of dentist at skin
and venereal diseases. To have an idea of precancerous of oral mucous membrane. To carry out
palpations of region lymphatic nodes. Antiseptic clearing of oral mucous membrane, palpation,
cytological and microbiologic methods of investigation, to be able to take material for biopsy
and other investigations, determination and elimination of local etiologic factors, to direct patient
with diseases of oral mucous membrane to specialist for diagnose and treatment. To carry out
anesthetic application of oral mucous membrane, prescription of physic methods of treatment;
- To have skills on elimination of increased sensibility of tooth enamel. To make temporary
splintage at periodontitis. To make filling at non-carious diseases, pathologic dental abrasion,
fluorosis, wedge-shaped defect, atypical cavities. To pose parapulpar posts, restoration of tooth
fractures, restoration of tooth crown with composite materials. To treat pulpitis at one-step, root
canal enlargement by modern technique – Step-back, electrophoresis of gums and root canals.
Enlargement of obliterated root canals, drug clearing of oral cavity and gums.
To have idea of tooth depophoresis, galvanization, diathermy, laser treatment.
Relation to other disciplines:
Hospital therapeutic stomatology is clinical subject. This subject is taught to 5 year students of
stomatology faculty during 9-10 terms. Teaching this subject is based on students’ knowledge of
anatomy, histology, biochemistry, pathologic anatomy, normal and pathologic physiology,
internal diseases, surgical dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, child stomatology, phthisiology, skinvenereal diseases, microbiology, and physiotherapy and requires necessary knowledge and skills
on these subjects.
Place in the health system
Hospital therapeutic stomatology in the health care system holds a special place, because
the prevalence of dental disease among population is significant; clinical symptoms,
complications, treatment and prevention of these diseases are variable which has a significant
impact on morbidity of the population. In Uzbekistan different periodontal disease, non-carious
disease and other dental conditions are wide spread that require knowledge of the correct
diagnosis, which is important to select the correct treatment and prevention of complications of
chronic diseases.
Modern information and educational technologies, and used for the study of the subject.
For the study of Hospital therapeutic stomatology it is important to use modern and
advanced pedagogic techniques. Use of textbooks, manuals and guidelines, texts of lectures,
handouts, software, the electronic materials and video systems is stipulated for the program.
During lectures and workshops the modern educational technology will be used.
