H istory A small sparkling Read in USM email about DDD-Donate Diapers for Disabled whichis emailed by Prof Hans from PediatricDepartment, HUSM. This email was requesting to donate diapers for disabled person who were registered in YOKUK. If you want to donate, you get cheaper price form YOKUK office. Attracting in such a way that we can do some charity work for unfortunates by giving/using some of our time. Furthermore the location is also within our reach. The beginning We invited Prof Hans to gave a talk about disabled people and the functions of YOKUK. He was very willingly and the talk was given on 13 September2007 just before the Ramadanin Nuclear Auditorium to all our staff. By his talk, all of our staffs who have attended, could see and feel for these peoples and the burden that the family members have to bear every day. We wanted to do something. The first step 2007 On 11 Oct 2007, just before theHari Raya. With all the staff contribution, we have collected RM 521.00 which enable us to donate pampers to 5 disabled persons from YOKUK. The following…… 2008 We started to organized a delegation from the department staff to make homevisit and bring along the things that we buy for the disabled family from YOKUK. We brought PAMPERS and milk which we manage to donate to 5 disabled persons from YOKUK. 2009 Alhamdulillah, this year we managed to collect RM403.00. This enable us to donate pampers to 6 unfortunate children which we buy through YOKUK. Today…… How we do We collect cash from our staff before the month of Ramadan. We contact YOKUK staff to arrange for donation. On every Thursdays of the Ramadan we arrange for our charity work. In the morning, at about 11 or 1130, some of us buy food items like rice, oil, biscuit, sugar, dates, juices, and sardine and pack them in our cars [radiologists/residents or staff’s cars]. At about 12 30 we all go to YOKUK office from where they send to the houses in 2 groups. Normally, the houses are already allocated by YOKUK staffs to use the time effectively. They provide 2 vans and 2 drivers to send us. They tried to choose around Kota Bharu area. One group in one van could able to go for 5 houses. This is limited by time. We need to go back and reach HUSM around 4. 30 to 5 pm since we need to prepare for our fasting. We choose to go on Thursday since this day is normally receiving the least numbers of patients; more so in the Ramadan. All the staffs who want to follow have given their names and their chosen day in advance. In the morning of the day, they have to try their best to finish their responsibilities. They have to inform their respective group for their trip in afternoon. If some work was unable to finish in time; they may ask their college to continue or they may cancel the trip. Who we are We are the staffs from the department of Radiology, Hospital USM, KubangKerian, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia.Staffs include, radiologists, radiographers, radiology residents, staff nurses, technicians, and all the other assistance staff. Our aims To do a little of charity work by sparing our time a little bit To contribute what we can For the less fortunate What we are doing We are doing charity work to disabled persons. We all have our main responsibilities as hospital staffs. We try our best to do this work without disturbing our responsibilities.
