SWP are kept in the Lab Manual under the SWP tab
Biohazard class 2 hood use: bookings must be made via http://php.med.unsw.edu.au/somswiki/index.php?title=MedCells#BioHood_Booking
Incubators: separate primary cultures from cell lines, human stem cells from animal cells
Centrifuge: users to be trained/supervised
Fluorescent microscope (owned by SCL): users to be trained prior to use. Bookings must be made via http://php.med.unsw.edu.au/somswiki/index.php?title=MedCells#Microscope_Booking
Water bath: media/bottles must be sprayed with 70% ethanol and wipe dry prior to use. Water bath is cleaned every
2 weeks with SigmaClean solution (0.16

Lab manual includes the following tabs: induction, training, risk assessment, SWP, equipment servicing
Located in corner shelf nearest to the fluorescent microscope/service door
Laboratory records including checklists and inspections
Each group is responsible for maintaining/servicing their own equipment
Equipment servicing/maintenance records (divided by research groups) in Lab Manual folder
Chemical storage and register
Ethanol stored in flammables cabinet
Bleach
Other chemicals eg. DMSO
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Person ordering a new chemical MUST provide an MSDS
Hard copies in the MSDS folder located in the corner shelf near the fluorescent microscope
If there is a digital version, save this in \\Ls-gl9e0\share\STEM CELL LAB\OHS\MSDS
Waste disposal system
General waste (paper/packaging): green bins with black plastic lining
Sharps: sharps bin to be purchased from Webstores
Biowaste: white bins with biohazard bag. Serological pipettes to be placed in a separate biowaste bin
Chemical waste: bleach must be added to discarded cell media and placed in white plastic containers. Use UNSW waste forms for collection http://www.hr.unsw.edu.au/ohswc/ohs/ohs_waste.html
