Boots Only non-performance enhancing boots are permitted for jumping phase only. Dress Riding/hacking jacket, white/beige breeches, shirt and tie/stock and full riding boots. Safety helmet is compulsory. Spurs if worn must be made of metal and must be blunt and face backwards and downwards, no rowels allowed. Lungeing Lungeing may only be done in a designated area. Young Event Horse 2011 Saturday 24th September Classes 4yr old, 5yr old, 6yr old Horses & Ponies Entry fee £25 Open Speed Derby Entry fee £15 Entries by Monday 19th September NI YOUNG EVENT HORSE 2011 THE COMPETITION YEH Competition open to 4, 5 and 6 year old horses, ponies(4 years and over). Pony class for ponies 4 years and upwards, 138cms to 148cms, likely to make an event pony. Riders should be 12 to 16 years old on 1/01/10 The winner is that with the highest overall marks from three sections: SECTION I Flatwork Test marked out of 120 (4yr olds & ponies) and 130 (5 & 6 yr olds.) Each horse/pony performs a simple flatwork test to show its paces and to demonstrate that it is obedient, supple and has correct, elastic and regular gaits. SECTION II Conformation & Type Marked out of 30. Horses/ponies are assessed in hand by the conformation judge. Their build and type should enable them to withstand the demands of the sport in terms of soundness, speed and stamina. SECTION III Jumping - Show jump fences including double continuing to Derby type course marked out of 120 (Height - up to 90cms for 4 year olds and ponies, up to 1m for 5 year olds and up to 1.10m for 6 year olds). Judges are looking for a bold athletic horse with good technique. *Star Quality mark out of 10 will be allocated during the flatwork phase. THE PHASES 1. FLATWORK TEST FEHL tests courtesy of Future Event Horse League. Rules as for current Eventing Ireland Rules for One-Day Events - Dressage. Horses must proceed directly to the presentation phase after flatwork test. 2. PRESENTATION The rider should demonstrate that the horse is able to walk and trot on a loose rein beside him in straight lines. It uses a simple triangle of 20 x 20 x 30 metres. It takes place immediately after the Flatwork test, the horse having been stripped of its saddle, and proceeds as follows: Conformation You present your horse stationary before the Judge at A, standing all square, for judging of conformation, limbs etc. Movement: Walk and Trot in hand Walk your horse in a straight line from A to B, across the base of the triangle from B to C, and then in a straight line from C back to A.
