4JSC/Editor/Concordance/AACR2 chapter 2 30 September 2004 To: Joint Steering Committee for Revision of AACR From: Tom Delsey, AACR3 Editor Subject: AACR2-AACR3 Concordance – AACR2 Chapter 2 Attached is a draft concordance for rules in chapter 2 of AACR2. The concordance is arranged by AACR2 rule number and is designed to show where each AACR2 rule appears in AACR3 and to track the JSC decisions/proposals and the editor's revisions that are reflected in the AACR3 rule. In the columns for JSC decisions/proposals, a check mark indicates that a decision or proposal in the referenced document is reflected in the revised text of the rule. A dash indicates that a decision/proposal has been superseded by a subsequent decision (e.g., by the deletion of the rule, by a decision on a proposal made by the Consistency Task Force, by a decision on reinstating "on the item", etc.). In some cases the editor's revisions may also effectively supersede a JSC decision/proposal, but in those cases the decision or proposal is still marked with a check and the overriding revision is simply shown in the editor's revisions column. In the column for the editor's revisions, deletions and insertions are shown where they are brief enough to be included. In other cases the nature of the revision is simply indicated by [added text], [corrected example], etc. The “references added” column indicates references added by the editor. References already included in AACR2 or proposed by the Consistency Task Force are not marked in the “references added” column. If existing or proposed references have been reworded, corrected, or deleted, an indication of that is given in the column for editor’s revisions.
