Fiji Electricity Authority has informed members of the public that due to damages caused by
Cyclone Mick, power supply has been lost to the entire Western Division from Rakiraki to Sigatoka
District. Most of the Central Division is also without power supply except for certain areas. Wailoa
Hydro Power Station has been shut down due to the rising water level in the Wailoa River.
Furthermore due to the high risk involved as a result of gale force winds and torrential rainfall, FEA
had to pull back its repair and maintenance crews from the field to ensure their safety and will
commence repair and power restoration works after the cyclone has passed through.
Members of the public are reminded that there may be many broken power lines lying on the
ground and the public are advised to treat all FEA power lines as live and furthermore please stay
away from these broken lines and report the matter to FEA. For any broken power lines or
emergencies please call 913. All other enquiries please continue to call 132333.
