Media and PR Manager, Historic Royal Palaces
Purpose of this job
Manage the day to day media and PR for Historic Royal
Palaces as well as develop media and public relations
strategies to raise the profile of Historic Royal Palaces, in
particular the Tower of London and the Banqueting House,
and the organisation’s specialist departments. Support the
strategic plan for the charity by engaging and influencing
target audiences externally and internally.

Key areas of responsibility


Manage the day to day PR and reputation of Historic
Royal Palaces, with particular responsibility for the Tower
of London.
Create and implement a proactive PR strategy for Historic
Royal Palaces’ and its properties, in particular the Tower








of London, through stories relating to exhibitions, events,
activities and news opportunities.
Produce press materials including Q&As, statements and
individual briefings in anticipation of issues arising.
Create positive media coverage about Historic Royal
Palace’s corporate subjects including conservation,
education, the built environment and other core work to
develop the organisation’s professional reputation,
communicating key messages about the charity and
creating compelling reasons to support our fundraising
activity.
Help develop stakeholder and opinion former
relationships with relevant specialist and local groups to
the palaces.
Support PR team activities including internal
communications, organising media visits, in-bound press
trips, and press previews
Manage filming requests (small and large scale) and be
involved with the development of television and other
programming.
Contribute to the ongoing development and management
of the Communications and Development department,
helping Historic Royal Palaces achieve its Cause,
principles and strategic objectives.
Provide 24-hour, on-call press office cover on the out-ofhours duty mobile (shared on a rota)
Provide media training to identified colleagues through
workshops and advise colleagues on their own PR
activities.
