CONTEST RULES & REGULATIONS The Bob Hope Airport invites all Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena Unified School District high school students in Grades 9-12 to enter the Bob Hope Airport Student Art “Tower Banner” Contest! PREAMBLE Bob Hope Airport has a beautiful tower facade visible by tens of thousands of airport visitors every day as they drive or walk to and from the historic airport terminal building. The BurbankGlendale-Pasadena Airport Authority is seeking banners for display on the building facade to offer airport visitors an added dimension to their experience of the airport and of aviation. Student artists from Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena high school grades 9-12 are encouraged to create art that will take best advantage of a large-scale, outdoor display venue and effectively target viewers who are on the move with decorative, creative illustration that is bold, colorful, and at the same time instantly viewable, understandable, and stimulating. Each school district will present to the Bob Hope Airport its top three entries that best depict the theme “Up and Away.” Each entry can be the work of one artist or the combined effort of more than one artist. The districts will be solely responsible for determining which entries are chosen as the top three entries. The Arts and Culture Commission from each respective City will then consider the three entries and make a final selection of one entry from its school district based on the judging criteria set forth below. The winning artwork from each school district will be displayed on the façade of the Bob Hope Airport terminal tower for a period of approximately three months where it will be seen by well over a million travelers and airport visitors as they arrive and depart the terminal. A $3,000 award will be given to each school district in honor of the winning entry, and that award will serve as a license fee for the Authority’s exclusive use of the winning art for a one-year license period. The school districts will agree to stipulate that the award will be used to help support and promote their respective education programs for the arts. Once the three winning entries have been chosen by the Authority, the order of their display will be Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale, rotating the order each year. To be eligible to enter the contest, the student artist(s) must be currently enrolled in Grades 9-12 in high schools of the Burbank Unified School District, Glendale Unified School District, or Pasadena Unified School District.
