Breakout Session
Delegates to attend one of the following sessions:
1. Making Data from the HSCIC More Accessible
Chris Roebuck, Director of Benefits and Utilisation, HSCIC
This interactive session will provide an overview of how the
HSCIC currently makes data available and the emerging
thinking around the future. Delegates will then have the
opportunity to have their say about what their requirements
are. Using group work, we will explore the information needs
of different groups and how these needs can best be met.
2. Data and Linkage Services for Commissioners
Martin Dennys, Director of Data Services for Commissioners,
HSCIC and Ming Tang, Director for Data and Information
Management Systems, NHS England
The commissioning of care in England requires a complex
understanding and analysis of data concerning the care
provided to whole populations. There are many specialisms
and there is a need to commission individual and population
care requirements now, and to plan for the future. The Health
and Social Care Act 2012 has radically changed the flow of
data for commissioning purposes. This session will provide
insight on the current structure of the Data Service for
Commissioners and possible structures for the future.
3. Introduction to the Data Linkage and Extract Service
Dave Cronin, Business Change Lead, HSCIC.
This session will outline the different products available from
the HSCIC’s Data Linkage and Extract Service and the
related approvals and applications processes. HSCIC staff
will use case studies to help explain how the different
products can be used to meet individual data linkage needs.
