POLICE REPORT
Crime Statistic: Roslin/Bilston
During the month of June there were 15 reported crimes in Beat Area MW04
(including Roslin and Bilston). They are broken down as follows:-

Crimes of Dishonesty included:
25/5/11-1/6/11-Bilston Cottages, Theft of lead flashing, stolen from under three
dormer windows. Value £300.
Between 2300 hours on 20/6/11 and 0600 hours on 21/6/11, at Park Avenue,
Bilston, a yellow petrol strimmer, value £300, was stolen from a garden shed.
Between 1630 hours on 22/6/11 and 1230 hours on 23/6/11, at Marmion
Avenue, Roslin, a CD player, sunglasses and a number of CD’s were stolen from a
motor vehicle.
Between 0220 and 0500 hours on 23/06/11, there was an attempt theft of
motor vehicle from Charlton Grove, Roslin. A t-shirt, value £10, was also stolen
from within.
Around 0140 hours on 27/6/11 there was an attempt break-in to Bilston Miners
Club. Nothing was stolen from within.
Vandalisms included:
Between 1130 hours on 10/6/11 and 0115 hours on 11/6/11, at Caerketton
Avenue, Bilston, a double glazed panel within a upvc front door was broken.
Value £100.
Overnight between 22/6/11 and 23/6/11 at various locations in Roslin and
Bilston, including Caerketton Avenue, Stanley Avenue, Moorfoot View, Manse
Road, Main Street, Wallace Crescent, Rossglen Court and Station Road, fuel lines
on numerous vehicles were cut. Enquiries are ongoing.
Other incidents of note:
0045 hours on 11/6/11, at A701 at junction with A703, conditional offer issued
to a 37-year-old male from Glasgow, who failed to stop for a red light.
An ASBO Warning was issued to a 45 year-old male from Bilston for erratically
overtaking stationary vehicles in a traffic queue and driving in an aggressive
manner.
Two local male youths aged 15 and 16 years were charged with 14 Road Traffic
Offences regarding use of an unregistered motorcycle in Caerketton Avenue,
Bilston on 28/6/11. The motorcycle was also seized by Police.
There have been numerous complaints regarding dogs from Bilston Peace
Encampment worrying horses in nearby fields. Following an incident on 6/7/11
Whereby a black Labrador behaved aggressively towards members of the public,
a 26-year-old female from the camp was charged with an offence under the
Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
1. James Kinch, Midlothian Council and Joan Acton, Bilston Activities Group
attended the meeting to give an update on the Bilston Open Space Project. It
is hoped that funding for this project will be received from the Waste
Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN), along with support from Midlothian
Council.
Proposals included better lighting, planting of trees and bulbs, upgrading and
extending paths and creating a picnic area.
Draft proposals of the development were shown to the Community Council
and these will be available for the public to view in Bilston Church on
Thursday 14 July. The Community Council is giving its full support to this
project and it is hoped that local residents will too.
2. It is with regret that due to other commitments Dave Stokes has resigned
from the Community Council. The CC wish Dave well for the future and thank
him for his work as Federation Rep.
