Graduation Application & Deadlines
Summer 2008
A $55 fee is required each time you apply for graduation. If you do not graduate in the term you apply, you
must reapply in the term you expect to complete graduation requirements. Complete the application form and
submit with $55 fee to the Cashier's Office, Student Services 2620. Or mail the form with the appropriate fee
postmarked by the filing deadline to: San Diego State University, Cashier's Office, 5500 Campanile Drive,
San Diego, CA 92182-7426. ***Please make checks payable to SDSU.

FINAL DAY TO APPLY FOR SUMMER GRADUATION WITH AN ADVANCED DEGREE
THESIS DEADLINES
July 3rd
Final day for submission of thesis without risk: Your thesis will be reviewed in time for you to make any
corrections and obtain final clearance to submit your thesis to Montezuma Publishing by the August 19TH noon
deadline. Submit thesis to the Graduate Division (SSE 1410) to obtain a Thesis Clearance form prior to
submission to the Thesis Review Service. Thesis must be formatted and the signature page completed.
July 7th – August 22nd
Thesis will be accepted on an at-risk basis. By submitting your completed thesis for review to Graduate and
Research at risk you are not guaranteed that your thesis will be reviewed in time to be submitted to Montezuma
Publishing by the noon deadline of August 19, 2008.
August 19TH – Noon deadline
For depositing thesis cleared by the Thesis Reviewer to Montezuma Publishing assuring Summer 2008
graduation. NOTE: If you do not meet this deadline, you will need to reapply for Fall 2008 graduation.
When submitting approved Doctoral Dissertations to the Graduate Division for Summer 2008 graduation, the
Joint University's deadlines apply.
August 22nd – Noon deadline
Final day to submit thesis to Division of Graduate Affairs without having to enroll in Thesis 799B the following
semester. You will still need to reapply for Fall 2008 graduation if you do not meet the August 19th deadline
listed above.
OTHER DEADLINES
July 30th
Final day for submission of Incomplete and Report in Progress grade removals for graduation with an advanced
degree. Grade changes can be confirmed via Web Portal.
August 13th
Final day for departments to report successful completion of comprehensive examination to the Graduate Division.
August 22, 2008
Official graduation date to appear on diploma and transcript. It will take approximately 4 - 6 weeks for your degree
to show up on your transcript. Diplomas are delivered approximately 8 weeks after official graduation date
(excluding Doctoral Degrees).
