OPERATIONAL SURFACE FRICTION ASSESSMENT
--------------------
AIRPORT OPERATOR SURVEY
Foreword
The STAC (Civil Aviation Technical Center) of the DGAC (French Civil Aviation Administration) is
notably responsible for contributing to the development of technical regulations and dissemination of
standards in France.
The STAC has launched a study dealing with operational surface friction assessment in bad weather
conditions.
Indeed, there is no international regulation for operational runway friction characteristics measurements
and for information disseminated as a result of these assessments.
The answers given in this survey will be analyzed with all the responses received. They will be individually
considered and remain confidential.
This survey deals with operational runway surface conditions when contaminants such as water, ice, snow
or slush are present.
