New Foam Technology is another Step Forwards
The New Foam-Filling Process Makes Schmitz Cargobull an even More
Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient Company.
Horstmar, September 2010 - Energy savings and environmentally friendliness are of major
importance in the transport industry, especially with regard to improving the CO2 balance! The
new insulating foam and the new floor construction have enabled Schmitz Cargobull to
develop a highly insulated and energy efficient cooling system. The overall result is reduced
fuel consumption thanks to its excellent thermal properties. The new foam technology
ensures a good ecological balance when used together with environmentally friendly fuel. The
FERROPLAST® panels can also be fitted with the HDR (Highly Dent Resistance) technology
to ensure improved buckling resistance. In addition to the new foam-filling process that still
enhances the positive characteristics of the FERROPLAST® panels, i.e. the superb insulation,
the excellent vapthe diffusion resistance, great strength, integrated, flush-fitting internal
structures, Schmitz Cargobull will be presenting other product innovations for box semitrailers,
box trailers and box bodies at IAA.
Top product and still the European market leader in the freezer trailer category is the S.KO
COOL the stability of which has been improved even further. The rear panel frame now uses
a new ram strip, which effectively prevents the body from being damaged. The steel outer
profiles also contribute to the improved robustness as do the reinforced intersection between
the side panels and the rear panel frame and the doors' reinforced inside corners.
2010-504
Thanks to the highly effective insulation in the FERROPLAST® body and the optional
aerodynamically optimised cladding on the frame with pallet box inside, the S.KO COOL
offers exemplary economy. Fuel consumption and emissions are further reduced.
Numerous detail optimisations have also been implemented inside: The floor of the selfsupporting body can be designed as a quiet running floor as an option. The handling of the
optional multi-temperature partition wall has been optimised (without affecting its excellent
insulation properties) and it can now be positioned much easier and faster than before.
LED lights have now been embedded in the roof to ensure that there is very good lighting
present inside the trailer. The optimisation of the door opening angle has improved the
sealing in the portal area and reduced the danger of damage during manoeuvring. New door
catches come on top of that. The body also includes a new customs security system, which
makes it easier for the driver to produce the relevant conformity declaration. This also has a
positive visual effect and improves the repair possibilities.
Naturally, the well-known options such as pallet boxes, air duct, circulation wall, integrated
double deck loading as well as the lashing rails can still be ordered and fitted to the new
generation of vehicles.
Dynamic Ramp Protection (DRP) – Protects Against Hard Ramp Docking
DRP – Dynamic Ramp Protection is the name of Schmitz Cargobull's latest solution.
DRP works as a compressible roller buffer made from stainless steel. DRP is really ingenious
and easy: Spring and bearing mounted rollers progressively absorb and reduce the impact
energy during docking. The forces are not applied to the body but go directly to the chassis
instead. This ensures that the body and the rear section are protected effectively.

Customer Orientated, Pre-Fabricated Utility Packages
A total of seven new utility packages make it easy to find the correct solution for a specific
transport business. Every fresh and refrigerated goods transport company has its own
requirements with regard to its own transport vehicles. The mature modular system enables
additional fittings to be realised.
The Packages in Detail:
Rough Road pro
Reefer trailers that have been professionally prepared for poor roads are needed on many
routes in order to deliver the freight on time and profitably. The S.KO COOL is best prepared
for poor road conditions by the addition of the Rough Road pro utility package.
- Hard-wearing: Reinforced axles and reinforced link springs
- More spring travel: MRH pneumatic suspension unit with strengthened air-bellows (long-life
rubber) and reinforced bellow-piston
- Longer service life: Heavy-duty shock absorbers
- Additional protective plates: for brake discs, spring bellows and EBS
- Reliable: Protected lines and operating controls
Load & Dock pro
Time is always of the essence in distribution transport, especially when manoeuvring and
docking and during the loading as well. The Load & Dock pro utility package lowers the risk of
damage and reduces the wear on ythe frozen goods box body.
- Side walls capable of withstanding up to 32 t for reduced load securing work
