She died 95 years later in 1920. Her baskets are on display at the Carson City Museum. Subrena Lucius Beebe Lucius was born in1902. He was also a journalist and reestablished the Nevada newspaper. Reno, the second largest city provides a variety of entertainment. This growing city, only one hour from the Sierra Mountains is nicknamed the Biggest Little City. Gambling is one of Nevada’s major industries providing tourism to Nevada. Las Vegas Skyline Cattle-Livestock ranching has been an important industry since the late 1800s.There are about 3,000 farms and ranches in Nevada. Climate and Weather for Nevada Did you know there are over ten areas in Nevada that are about ten thousand feet in elevation? The Las Vegas area, Henderson County is about six hundred to one thousand five hundred feet in elevation. Nevada has a diverse climate. Nevada’s storms can be fierce. Winter blizzards are rare, but occasionally occur in the higher elevations of the Sierra Mountains. The opposite of a storm, of course is warm sunny weather. Nevada is home to the Mojave Desert. This southern region only receives three to four inches of rainfall each year. Nevada has plenty of sunny days in the summer months. The states record highs are in the low 100’s. Many travelers come to the majestic mountains for camping and hiking. In the winter months skiing is a major attraction for Lake Tahoe. Lastly, world-class casino resorts will entertain those who enjoy gamboling. Las Vegas, Nevada– Las Vegas attracts many gamblers to Nevada. Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada and provides a variety of entertainment. On Las Vegas Boulevard, all the casino’s light up at night sky.
