The Division of Information Technology (DIT) has an agreement with a local provider to dispose of obsolete equipment in an
environmentally friendly way that also assists the local community.
This process is to be adhered to, as:
1 The university is guaranteed confidential information is removed from the computer prior to disposal,
2 Software licensed to CSU is removed, to avoid breaches of copyright and agreements,
3 The asset is required to be formally written off, and;
4 Personal information contained on the computer is destroyed.
All Staff are reminded that it is not permitted to:
1. Move ‘cascaded’ computers to a staff members’ home, unless formally approved by the Executive Director, DIT;
2. Take the computer, when leaving employment at CSU;
3. Give old computers to others in the community, and particularly;
4. Dump the computer including any of its constituent part in general waste disposal bins.
If you have any obsolete computer equipment for disposal, you should log a job on the Service Desk (84357).
