PROM INFORMATION:







Prom is Saturday, April 12 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. at the Mississippi Agriculture Museum in the Forestry
Auditorium.
Tickets will be on sale during lunch beginning March 31 through April 4. Tickets are $20 each.
If you are planning on taking a date that does not attend Clinton High School, then you will need to pick up
a form from Ms. Tompkins in room W211. These forms and an email of the dates photo ID are due to Ms.
Tompkins by April 3.
Before purchasing a ticket, you must view the Prom Dress Code PowerPoint. Your homeroom teacher
should have shown this to you. If you have a question about your dress, please see Ms. Tompkins.
Beginning Monday, March 17, any student who receives an in school or overnight suspension will not be
allowed to attend the prom.
ALL tickets sold are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Cheer Tryouts: The instructor clinic to teach cheer and dance will be on Tuesday, April 1. Subsequent
practice clinics will be on Thursday, April 3 and Friday, April 4. Tryouts for Clinton High School will be
on Wednesday, April 9.
ANCHOR CLUB: The monthly sing-a-long at Jackson Run is this Thursday from 6-7. Sign up outside Mrs.
Berry's room if you'd like to go! Anchor Club will also be selling t-shirts designed by senior Khoula
Saleem as a fundraiser for Batson. Any Anchor member who sells at least 5 t-shirts will receive a service
credit. The top three sellers will receive a gift card!
4. Biomedical Research applications are due by March 28th. Please turn these in to Mrs. Barrios (Sorey).
5. If you signed up for Career Pathway Experience for the 14-15 school year and have not completed an
application, you must complete an application and turn your application in to the Counselor's office
by Tuesday, March 25th. You can pick up an application from Mrs. Morgan in the counselor's office and
return it to her by the March 25th deadline.

This class is for seniors interested in the medical field. It consists of a semester of rigorous Human Anatomy
and Physiology and a semester of on site visits to the University of Mississippi Medical Center shadowing
different professors in their research labs.
ATTENTION AP STUDENTS: Sign up for AP Exams will be held March 17th-March 20th. Student can
come to the Counseling Office from 7:50am-10:37am. Students must pay a deposit of $15 PER exam at the
time of sign up. Please bring correct change as we can not guarantee that we will be able to make change for
you.
Model UN officers need to meet with Mr. Beasley today during the short homeroom period. Very Important!

Avneet Singh, Emma Jenkins, Allison Frock. Hotel Fees are past due, resolutions online are past due. Country
presentation boards are due at the end of the nine weeks. The next training sessions are Thursday, March
20, and Thursday, March 27. You must have attended four sessions in order to attend the conference.
11. CPE - Career Pathway Experience is coming back for the 2014-2015 school year. Upcoming Juniors and
Seniors are eligible to enroll. CPE is a business based curriculum including topics such as human relations,
communication, banking and finance, business etiquette, taxation, employability skills, college and career
exploration. AND Students will work in an approved work site for for 540 hours during the school year and
will be paid! Must have your own transportation! Sign up if you are interested.
12. ANCHOR CLUB: If you are interested in buying an Anchor Club t-shirt, see Mrs. Berry or one of the Anchor
officers. Shirts are $10, and you can choose from two designs thanks to Khoula Saleem and Carly Melton!

GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Clinton (MS) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to invite qualifying seniors to apply for
a scholarship offered through our Educational Development Annual May Week Program. Applications are in the guidance
office, due by April 4th.
The Clinton Community Development Foundation is now accepting applications for teacher mini-grants of up to $250.
CCDF has awarded more than 100 grants since they began this program and most of the grant recipients were CPSD
teachers.

2014 Summer SLAM Program
Tougaloo College will hold their annual Summer SLAM Program on June 2- June 27, 2014. The role of the undergraduate
training and education center at Tougaloo College is to increase the pool of minority students entering health-related
professions. This summer program is designed to provide excellent preparation for success in higher educational studies
and to pursue advanced degrees in health professions. Applications may be picked up in the guidance office or found
at www.tougaloo.edu. Applications, high school transcript, and two recommendation letters are due April 11, 2014
National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. $1,000 Scholarship. Applications are available in the counselor's office.

The Student Scholarship Organization has given us information on 10 different scholarships for Mississippi high school
students. For more detailed information on these scholarships please visit the guidance office.
Clinton Civitan Club Scholarship for $500.00. Student needs to be accepted to either Mississippi College or Hinds
Community College. Applications are available in the counselor's office. Due March 24, 2014.
Shelter Insurance Foundation $2,000 Scholarship. Applications are available in the counselor's office. Due March 24,
2014.
IDA Hope Thornton Scholarship
The scholarship grant for 2014 is $1,000 for a student planning to attend a college or university in the state of
Mississippi. Applications are limited to those planning to major in English, Journalism, or Agriculture. Please pick up
applications in the guidance department.
Go Arrows Service Award Scholarship:
The scholarship for 2014 is $500 or more for undergraduate level studies at an accredited university of college. No
restrictions regarding your major field of study. Please pick packet up in the guidance office and the deadline is March
21, 2014.
To all future engineers, architects, interior designers, and contractors: It’s time to start planning by enrolling in Mr.
Dyar’s construction technology program at the Career Complex. Please email me for more information at
tdyar@clintonpublicschools.com. This is now a dual-enrollment class through Hinds Community College and you can earn 16
hours of college credit by completing two years in my program!
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority are offering four non-renewable scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to high
achieving students who plan to attend a Historically Black College/University. Must meet following criteria: GPA
of 3.25 or higher; leadership roles & extracurricular activities; and verification of acceptance to a historically
black college/university. Applications are in the guidance office and are due March 27th 2014.

CESTEME Summer Bridge
June 2-June 27, 2014
The CESTEME Summer Bridge program is limited to incoming JSU freshman STEM students and it is specifically
designed to facilitate their transition and success into STEM degree programs at JSU. The CESTEME Summer Bridge
program provides an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a dynamic and interactive 4-week program.
Students selected to participate in the CESTEME Summer Bridge must meet the following criteria:

Planning to attend or admitted to JSU (fall 2013)

Plan to pursue a STEM degree program of study
·
ACT Composite Score – 20 or above and Sub scores in Math and Science – 20 or above
·
Complete a Bridge Application with a copy of high school transcript

Lebonte' Woman's Club of Clinton will award a $550.00 cash scholarship to a 2014 CHS female graduate. The winner will
be selected on her academic record, honors, participation in organizations, community service, financial need, and
personal essay. Applications are in the guidance office. Deadline is April 10, 2014.
The Community Foundation of Greater Jackson announces the 2014 Aura Neely-Gary Memorial Scholarship available to
college students for the 2014-2015 school year. The fund awards one or more scholarships annually (depending upon
the number of deserving applicants) in the amount of $2,000 based on merit and need to a male or female student
planning to enter a college or university in Mississippi. Preference will be given to students who desire to resume
their education following a period of personal difficulties. Special consideration will be given for young women who
had previously dropped out of school and are now enrolled at a post-secondary institution. You may pick up an
application in the guidance office or this application may be accessed at the website www.cfgj.org/scholarships. THE
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15, 2014.
The Arts Council will be awarding one scholarship to a student displaying advanced artistic talent. The scholarship
program is open to all artistic genres including, but not limited to: visual arts, dance, musical performance, literary, and
dramatic performance. The scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000. Applications are in the guidance office,
the deadline for applications will be April 9, 2014.
Sigma Nu Fraternity here at Mississippi State University is are offering one $500 scholarship to one high school senior
male attending Mississippi State in the fall of 2013. We look for the winner of our “Freshman Leadership Scholarship” to
demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the classroom and show his involvement in his community through
extracurricular activities and leadership positions. It should be noted that one does not need to be interested in
fraternity to win this scholarship as membership is not required to win. The due date to mail in the application is April
11th, 2014. Application forms are in the guidance office.
