Picture Library: Image Supply, Reproduction & Rights Fees
Sir John Soane’s Museum has an unparalleled collection spanning painting, architectural
drawings and historical artefacts. Image from this vast collection are available upon request
through our Picture Library.
Ownership of Photographic & Digitised Images
Under no circumstances can negatives be supplied, and in all cases, negatives, transparencies,
and digitised images and the copyright therein remain the property of Sir John Soane’s Museum.
All images should be acknowledged ‘By Courtesy of the Trustees of Sir John Soane’s Museum’.
Invoicing
On receipt of your order an invoice will be issued. Images are dispatched within 28 days of
payment of receipt. Images will only be sent once payment has been received.
Additional Information
Please include as much information as possible regarding your request. For example, the image
author, title and reference number. If you do not have this information then please give as much
detail as possible regarding the publication you found the image in. Other information required
is the intended print run, one country or world distribution, and one language or all languages.
All fees quoted are for one edition only – subsequent editions must be the subject of a new
application.
Academic/educational image supply rates are subject to the discretion of the Museum and the
Museum waives the reproduction fees for publications with a print run less than 500 and
reserves the right to apply academic/educational discounts with a print run less than 1,000.
VAT will be added to all UK invoices.
EU customers will be charged VAT unless they supply a valid EU VAT number.
Prices are given in pounds sterling (GBP).
All images reproduced for online usage, for example e-books, websites and online broadcast,
must be displayed at 1000 dpi maximum.
Image requests can take up to seven days to process.
